Christmas starting

It's only two more sleeps until the big day of celebrations start.  All of my present shopping is done and wrapped up ready to hand out on Christmas Day.  I didn't go overboard with presents this year as I don't really have the budget to spend on presents.  For a couple of people it was very hard to buy for but after a day of window shopping I managed to get what I thought was best.  Just hope these people will appreciate what they received.  I try to buy what people really need for themselves, not their home.

I was away for the weekend from Friday to Sunday.  I thought it was time for the kids to get used of not having me around on weekends as the marital status changes will take place very soon. I stay over at a friend's house.  On Friday night a group of us caught the train to the city to view the city hall's festive activities until 10pm.  Then we walked to the mall to grab dinner and viewed afew window displays of Christmas at the Myer Centre. Then I was up until 3am, drinking and social chat to my friend.

Saturday was a busy day with shopping for presents. In the evening we went around my friend's local area to view light displays at afew homes and two churches.  It was so bright and colourful! Afterwards we went to the local beach to view the huge moon rising over the horizon on the east.

Since I heard shops are open until midnight I might go to the shops soon to get the fresh food done so I can avoid the last minute shopping on Christmas Eve.  Tomorrow will be the worse day to go shopping for last minute stuff.  Even today the shops were busy with shoppers getting the last minute stuff.

All the best to you all for a joyous Christmas with your love ones. Don't get sick on consuming too much of the festive goodies.  If you have travel plans, hope your destination spot will be a safe one.

Christmas shopping

As someone pointed out, its only a week off until Christmas Eve. I started to go Christmas shopping with my 15 yo yesterday as she wanted to go to get the presents she wanted to buy for the family members and close friends.  I decided to make a start with mine at the same time.  Only got to buy for her sister and one of their grandparents but I couldn't really buy for my 15 yo as she was there with me.  Besides I have to shop elsewhere as the ideal present for her wasn't at the shop we were at.  Still got to shop for three other people I am close to. It won't be much as I don't have the budget to spend big this Christmas.

My present to my parents was completed months ago.  It was homemade by me!! I spent many hours on completing it which I am sure they will love.  The same ideal present was completed to the girl's aunt and uncle too.  Suppose to make another one for their grandparents too but time has run out. Guess that will have to be something to work on next year if I have the time to do it as I have other plans that is more high priority.

By the time we got back from the shops, the girl's report cards had arrived in the mail.  I am quite proud to point out they both done quite well this semester.  Both received an "A" in one subject and all the rest were Bs and Cs.  They both had fairly good comments on their assessments, effort and behaviour. The next report won't be issued until the start of Term 2 when parent teacher interviews will take place.  Most of the time I only go once, just to meet the teachers. If there are any issues, I ask if they can email or phone me.  Only had an odd phone call or two this year about an issue or two.  Other then that, all's good!

Better go as I have some things to do at home this afternoon. Have a nice day!

Christmas is approaching

Oh boy!  It's only ten days until Christmas!  And I still have my Christmas shopping to do.  Food will be the last minute shopping as fresh food don't intend to last long.  The presents I will have to get this week as I don't want to leave it the last minute.  I know what to get, just I need my motivation to get up early and be at the shops early before the good parking spots become no vacany and out before school holiday crowds enters at 10am.

The school year is now closed until late January.  All students in Queensland are now on school holidays for six weeks. I should get my girl's report cards in the mail this week as the schools generally post them out.

How was your second week of December?  I had a busy week as usual.  On Tuesday I had a friend over for lunch. It was a great afternoon to catch up with the latest. We had great laughs and conversations for five hours.

This weekend was more visiting and parties going on.  On Friday I visited my parents for afew hours then I headed off to a birthday party. I stayed overnight at my friend's house as I had a couple of drinks. We had Indian meals for dinner. It was quite a long time since I last had Indian.  Some foods was abit more spicy and hot then others. If I can remember correctly I had more drink intakes of fruit punch then consuming foods. The birthday cake was home made and very yummy!! I would of loved to have seconds but I didn't want to be rude to ask as I didn't know the party host very well. I went to the party as a guest of my best friend who was a relative to the party host. I had plans with my friend to have dinner and see a movie but I didn't know the changes until I showed up. It's a long story that I won't go into details about but it was a good night and I am glad I had the opportunity to meet new people.  Maybe 2014 will be a good year to be introduced to a new circle of friends.

Yesterday afternoon I was invited to an afternoon tea party with afew mums at a friend's house for two hours.  This party was more gluten free as the host has serious allergies problems.  Surprisely I enjoyed the home made dip with rice crackers. But my body told me a different story last night.  Whatever the ingredient was in this dip, kept me repeating belching for parts of the night.

This weekend I got to meet new people! I had four people stating they hope to see me again. I guess that made me feel good! Normally I am fairly quiet and shy when it comes to meeting strangers but I guess I found the right conversations with them.

Better go as I have afew to do this afternoon. Have a good week!

School Year closing fast

The first week of December is just about ending. It was a busy week for me!  Besides the normal commitments I started to make a small progress in my card list. This morning I email 26 of my yearly newsletter to afew people I know. The others will be sent as snail mail as they don't either have internet or I don't know their email address.  I am hoping to get the card list completed by the end of this weekend.  And post all envelopes on Monday. There is a couple I have to send overseas which I hope they will reach their destination just before Christmas.

My 15 yo daughter finished year 10 over a week ago now.  She mostly had her first week of school holidays at home.  She still got her traineeship to deal with over the holidays.  Just one more day of on the job training to go.  She will have a six week break until school resumes in late January 2014.  In mid-late January she suppose to attend to a couple of catch up modules days as she had abit of time off due to school excursions or exams on that day of her theory classes. On Tuesday she a day at the centre to complete her first aide module.  She past the exam successful!

All state schools in QLD from prep to year 9 will have their last week of the school year next week. Then all kids will be on school holidays for 6-8 weeks over summer.  What do you plan with your school age kids this summer?

Finally our good news came at last!  We were informed yesterday the first stage of the contract was successful. The sold sticker was added to the sign yesterday! Our settlement day will be in mid January, due to the festive season of solictor closing for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year.

Last night I found 7 of my cousins now on facebook. I had a conversation with two of them.  Basically I informed them about the updates of my life. They were quite surprised and I am sure many others will be in the same vote once they read my yearly newsletter.

Better get back to this card list otherwise it will never be done.  Sometimes I wish I had Rosie (remember the robot from THE JETSONS) here to do some things for me! For one, she would be a better housekeeper then my kids are. And secondly there are never enough hours in the day to do everything by myself.

Have a good weekend everyone!

My card list prep

This weekend I am hoping to sit down and get all my card writing done as Christmas is only 19 days away.  And I am working on getting my yearly newsletter done and sent with some greeting messages via snail mail. Some newsletters will be emailed as well.

Summer starting

Goodbye spring!  Welcome summer! Generally this is my favourite time of the year as it is good weather to be in the water and we have more hours of daylight to do outdoor things. We had hot days already and some areas of the SE had severe or dangerous storms with large hailstones hit.  I managed to capture my first lightning photo in a recent storm. A good thing about digital, you can delete the phones you don't want.  It taken me over a 100 photos to capture a good lightning.  And I learnt of how to do it right too!

How was your month of November?  At present time we have our house on contract for the third time.  I have heard the current buyer has finance approval but we still don't know until the building and pest inspection gets done the third time tomorrow.  By this Friday we should know if this contract becomes unconditional or not.  At present time I am not going to get my hopes up high as I had experience two invalid contracts before.

On 13th November (which would of been my late Grandma's birthday if she was still alive) I visited members from the old stamp club I used to attend regularly years ago.  I had a good conversation with one member for about two hours, catching up with what's been happening in our life for the past 18 months.  She invited me to attend to their break up party next week.  If all goes well I might consider going since I don't have any other parties to attend to this year.

On the same day we attend to Monique's school for their academic awards night.  She was rewarded with a certificate and a medal for being the top student in Art.

Sadly my last peachface had died on 22nd November.  It was quite a shock to see a dead bird in the cage before sunset.  I have posted my expression about the lost in a previous blog so I'm not going to repeat the same message this time.  Since then I have two friends who had a relative passing away in November too.

On 26th November Rachel had her first school excursion to Lone Pine Sanctuary which is situated in Brisbane.  The excursion was for a handful of SEU students to celebrate their first year of high school.  Going by her reports she seems to had a great day there as she never has visited this sanctuary before.  She asked me if we could go back there on the school holidays.

My bowling league has now finished for the year.  We had our break up party on Saturday night.  For further details you will have to read my sporting report blog.

Now it's already December and only 23 days until Christmas!  So has everyone been organised on getting their decorations up and so on.  Unfortunately no decorations will be up here because the tree got thrown out and most of the Christmas stuff is already packed in boxes and at my parent's house.  To be honest I don't have the Christmas spirit in me as too much has happened this year. But I have been busy getting my card list done so my family and friends don't miss out of me thinking of them.  I won't give the details on what I done but I all I will say it will be not what you will expect to receive.

Better go as it's time to cook dinner.  Going to have a steak meal tonight. Enjoy the month of December!

Life changing for the better

Only one month until Christmas Day!!  At this stage I do not know what will be happening as my life will have a changeover in the near future.

May as well say it now as you will all will find out sooner or later.  My marriage after 19 years will come to an end.  It will be for the best in the long run as things wasn't met to be. As we grow older we wanted differeent things in life and it was time to move forward.  Should of done this about 7 years ago but I had kids to think about so that was the reason I tried to stay married as long as I could.

This is the reason why the house is on the market to try and sell as quickly as possible before the divorce case starts.  We have afew debts to pay off so selling the house was the only option to get the money to do this.  At least I will have my new car (which is now ten months old) that is reliable to get about by myself or my daughter.

It's sure been a stressful time trying to sell a house when the house market isn't quite reliable at present time.  Also it doesn't help when I have a 15yo with an attitude problem.  Once I moved out, her father can deal with her crappy attitude as he is the one with the full time custody of her. I will be moving back to stay with my parents for a short while with my 13yo.  Don't really like the idea of moving back home after 20 years but it was only option to have a roof over my head. Only plan to be there until at least I get back on my feet financially. But more likely when Rachel finishes her schooling I probably move out. Then again I might ended up being a full time carer for my parents as they are getting older in age.

My 13yo will be changing schools in 2014 as it is just abit too far to travel five days a week to another city for just school drop off and picks up. I was hoping in year 2014 to start studying to gain my qualifications I have been wanting for so long. I will start off as a certificate level at college and then take it from there after first completion of course one.

So what goals do you have planned for 2014??

Mixed emotions

Is it amazing how your emotions can change in 2-3 days? One moment you can be happy as Larry and the next a bombshell of news hits. I had mixed emotions for the past three days as a couple of events have happened since Wednesday afternoon.

After the late afternoon email on Wednesday about buyer's number 2 contract has became invalid, it was less then 24 hours I had a phone call from the real estate agent to say she found another protential buyer.  A family of 5 (but heard later the couple has 9 children) came over after school to inspect the property.  We signed the contract just before 5pm that afternoon. I was quite happy but deep down I am thinking will this be another let down after two weeks? Everyone keeps on saying third time lucky!  But will it be the case for us?? I am trying my best not to think about this until Christmas.  The settlement day won't be until mid January as the solicitors will be closed during the festive season for 2-3 weeks.

I had plans to spend two days away from this house.  I just felt I needed abit of a break but when I woke up yesterday morning I felt really tired, run down and my tummy was unsettled. After doing some light housework I decided to have abit of a mid-day nap.  I was only thinking it would be about only an hour's snooze but my body told me a different story. It was close to four hours by the time I got out of bed and stayed awake until late last night.

RIP PEACHES
But the worse news of all came.........I walked out to the back verandah to check on my birds at around 5pm as it was close time of the day to bring them inside for the night.   I was in total shock to see a dead peachface in his cage. It really broke my heart!! He was the last of our peachface we owned!  He was a funny bird to watch with his clowning around acts.  He knew how to communicate to the wildlife birds as well.

It was more heartbreaking to watch the other two (royal blue masked lovebirds) looking at their friend, just lying there without any sound.  When I brought their cage inside, they were trying to communicate to the other bird for some form of response in return.  I don't know if they understood that their friend had passed away.

Today they seen to be back to normal themselves and eating very well. I can hear them happily chirping away on the back verandah.

Last night I was home alone as the other household members were out at the movies until late.  I decided to phone a friend who lives in Gladstone.  We had a good chat for 2.5 hours about alot of different things happening in our life. We originally started as penpals as we have very common interests in cats and crafts. Even joined the same craft groups and swapped our papercraft made products.  But once the internet was installed it was more emails sending then writing with a pen onto paper. We both are still members to one craft group today where we swap ATC jams.

As for the rest of this weekend I will just take it as comes. Have a good weekend everyone!

PS I have another crafty friend who just started her mini business.  She decorately paints wooden things like pegs and pencils.  If you are looking for Christmas presents she will be at Creative Markets tomorrow.  This event is held at Springwood State School on Springwood Road, Springwood.

Summer storms started

Twenty days into November have just about passed us. As usual I have been busy since my last report written on this blog last week. We had good and bad news!

Monique's reward night happened on last Wednesday night. We just made it back home in time before the storm hit our area.  It was only a local one!!  She got a certificate and a medal for being the top student of all year 10 students who studied ART.  That child has already had a passion for art since she could able to hold a pencil at her early childhood age.  She loves to draw!! Their school principal knows how to communicate.  I haven't heard someone talks so much about his job he loves!! I only briefly spoken to him once or twice at functions but it was the first time I heard more information about himself. He does remind me abit of the primary school principal which both seem to share the same role about the importance of education of all students. I know how important education is but telling it to teenagers is another matter!

Only this week I read an article about how do we know if our children are ready to start school.  I have been there and done that with both girls.  Back then one of them was ready to learn in year one while the other should of had another year at preschool. Now both are in high school and I do hope they will graduate year 12. There is alot of children in Logan who are school drop outs after year 10.  Actually there is one child I heard has drop out after year 8. I don't know how the child's mother can get away with that one.  By law children should be at school until at least year 10.  Even then they have to have a job to go to or attend college.

Today was the day to find out if our house sale contract became unconditional.  Sadly the buyer who wanted to buy this property had an unsuccessful application to their home loan. Like I said in my previous blog I suspect he might of had loan borrowing hassles if they needed an extra week for approval.  I am quite disappointed it's now the second time in two months to have a contract invalid.  I hope to had the house sold and be able to start fresh with my life. Now I feel no one wants our property!! Seriously I don't think this property will be sold before Christmas now. On top of that the banks are now getting tougher for applicants to apply for home loans.  I think it's just a bad time of the year to sell a property anywhere here. We should of sold it about 5 years ago when we had the opportunity to.  I think the house market was alot better back then too.

Summer isn't officially here yet and we already had severe storms hit SE QLD.  Most of last week and on Monday there were reports of dangerous cells hit the inland and coastal areas of the state.  On Monday we had a show of hail falling for about 15-20 mins.  It started to look like snow was falling by the time the hail stopped.

Just realised it is now getting late.  I already missed three quarters of a TV show I planned on watching tonight. Guess I will watch it online now. Have a good remainder of the week!

Tuesday 12 November 2013

Last eleven Days

Eleven days into November has passed on by very quickly.  And boy! Haven't I been busy and afew things have happened.  Besides watching my reality shows, crochet and doing my normal commitments, I started to make Christmas tags (instead of greeting cards this year).  Most of the project is digital.  Also I made fridge magnets for league bowlers as part of my little Christmas gift at the break up party later on this month.

The main reason I didn't post last week because I was waiting for the email about the sale contract to see if it has gone unconditional as yet.  The sale of this property is still on contract.  We got an email from the coveyancing officer yesterday stating our buyer wants to have a week's extension to get finance approval and settlement. I starting to think this buyer might have troubles of getting the finance of a home loan.  On a good note, at least our building inspection was more satisfactory this time.

I enjoyed my "ME TIME" last weekend as I was home alone most of the time.  Rachel went away with her father for two nights while Monique had a sleepover elsewhere.  I had two sleep ins for once!  Who knows when that will happen again as afew changes will be taking place in the near future.

It seems we had a good storm on Sunday afternoon.  I wasn't home at the time but I did hear we might of had golf sized hail hit in our street. There are afew dents on the plastic roof of the under covered area.  Going by the dent it looks more like a ping pong ball but it might of sound like golf balls hitting the roof. It didn't seem to do any other damage but our garage was flooded out again. At least there was no moving packaging on the ground this time.

We had some good news about my children's education.  We received two letters and one postcard in the mail about their excellent achievements. Rachel got a postcard from one teacher to say she excel very well in two subjects ( B+ for SOSE and A for English).  I take it was an assessment piece the students worked on recently. She got a letter saying she got 100 Gotchas for good behaviour at school.  She will be rewarded with a prize soon. Monique got a letter asking us to attend to the Academic Award Night tomorrow as she will be receiving an award for excellence in one subject.

After a month, Monique finally happy to see her bowling plague in her hand.  She bowled the perfect game on 1st October.

Better go as I have afew things to do today.  Have a nice day!  :)

October report

Today is the last day of October.  For the past 31 days it has been busy in this household with normal
start of crochet blanket
commitments, appointments and keeping this property respectful for protential buyers to inspect the place.

My evenings have been busy, crocheting up some granny squares while watching TV. I am now half way of a bed size after joining 36 coloured squares together. Hopefully I will finish before real summer arrives. Also I managed on a weekend to do an ATC jam swap for an online group I am a member at.

Because I haven't regularly visited the local craft store to do my casual sit and scrap for two months now, it was time to call in to visit as the ladies missed me. On 22 October I visited the store for two hours for a good catch up and let them know what's been happening in my life.

After a two week school holiday, QLD students resumed back to school for term 4 on 8th October. Yesterday I received a surprise postcard from school.  Apparently my 13yo achieved well academically in two subjects in term 3.  I don't know what assessment piece of work was involved.  All I know she got a B+ in SOSE and an A for English. I wasn't sure if they had the right student in their records!  An A for English is abit hard to believe, consider she struggles with writing and reading at school.

Due to the moving arrangements, I will have to change schools for her too.  But because it's so late in the year to changeover now, it's better to make a new start in a new environment in 2014.  We found a new school which we feel it will suit her for her needs.  The enrollment number of students attending to this school is alot lower compared to where she is currently at. For the past two weeks we have been going here one morning a week for a transition program.  Normally this is for year 7 into year 8 but because we are moving to an area where she doesn't anyone, the school recommend for us to attend as well.  Most teachers take her as a primary school student because she is quite short for her age.

After the protential buyer had a change of heart and terminated the contract in September, we had 5 more protentials came in to inspect the property.  We may finally success in the sale as we signed the contract on Monday. The building and pest inspection was redone again yesterday.  The buyer was here at the time of the inspection was done and he seem to still be interested in buying this property.  I did overhear some parts of the conversaton between the inspector and the buyer on what changes can be made.  I take it's a good sign we found the buyer!!  At time of departure the buyer did ask if we could leave the birds here as his son loves them!! But I will wait until the two weeks under contract deal passes before I believe the sale is for real!!

At the beginning of the month, my 15 yo had bowled her perfect game "300".  It's the highest scratch game you can bowl.  For non bowlers it means she bowled 12 strikes in a row.  Generally male bowlers with close to or over 200 average came bowl 300 games more then a female can.  I was told she is the first female junior to bowl an extreme high game at that centre.  Also she is recorded at the bowling organisation. Go to http://www.tenpin.org.au/index.php?id=1019  to view how many bowlers have bowled the perfect game this year.

On the first weekend of October she had a major bowling tournament played in Brisbane for two days.  There were ten centres from Brisbane, Toowoomba, Logan, Gold Coast and Bundaberg competing on 20 lanes. The centre she represented for came 8th overall. She didn't do really well that weekend to win anything individually.  I only went on Saturday to watch the juniors played for a couple of hours.  It was long days for everyone!! Check in was around at 7am each morning and the day ends over 12 hours later. I am sure everyone was thankful Monday was a public holiday because they all needed a day to recover.  For some they had a long way to travel home too.

Have an enjoyable November!  It will be the last month of spring in Australia. I know I will be busy! I have the final weeks of season play at bowling. The break up party will be held at the end of the month. I will have to get my act together to make up small affordable Christmas gifts to be given out at the league's party. Only have 28 to create and I think I just came up with an idea to do.

My 15yo will have her final assessment work to be completed for year 10.  She finishes her school year, two weeks before her sister does. Report cards will be issued in December!

If this house sale contract passes the under contract stage our settlement day will be later on in the month.  Which means everything will be packed and moved out on the weekend before. Why do settlement days happen during the weekday??

Saturday 26 October 2013

Is it lucky number seven?

Hi everyone!  How's your week being going?  Only another five days to go and October will be gone out the door like the rest of the previous months.  November might be the busiest month to finalized all the packing and move if the house gets sold successfully.

Good news came in this morning!  Looks like our last protential buyer decided to buy the house. The same couple visited the house to inspect the property twice. I had the phone call from the real estate agent before lunchtime, asking when we can come in to sign the contract. We will go there on Monday as the real estate closes early on Saturdays.  If this contract passes the cooling off period our settlement date will be in late November.

Generally it's a good sign we may found the right buyer if they inspect the same property twice. But because we have been through this before I am not going to have high expectations until after the second building inspection is completed and reported.  The second time they had a relative over who is an experienced builder to see what changes can be made for downstairs.  The future female owner of the property has a home based business so I think she like our property for more space of downstairs to deal with her business.

The house has been on the market for seven weeks now and it was the 7th protential buyer who decided to buy the house (after the protential buyer no 2 terminated the contract within two weeks of signing).  We weren't the young family first choice to buy as they had signed another contract before.  But the after the pest control inspection was done to this other property, it was a no no!! Apparently this dwelling of their first choice was infected with termites. Don't worry we passed successfully in the pest control inspection with flying colours.

It's more the building inspection I am more concern about. Due to the age of the house, it does require some general maintenance work to get the house freshly good looking again.  We did say to the real estate at the beginning this property will be sold as it is. Because of this situation we won't get the full valuation we hoped for at the beginning. We lose about $20K because of the work it needs to be done.  Now it's up to the buyer if they want to spend the extra money to get the maintenance up to scratch before it gets too badly run down in about 10 years time. I was hoping it would be an investment buyer who wants to buy for protential rental tenants to move in. From the type of rental tenants I have seen in this area, I wouldn't buy a rental property in Logan. The house will be destroyed by bad mannered kid/s with behaviour problems.

Will this couple will have a change of heart as well after building inspection gets done?  The relative that came over with them yesterday is an experienced builder so he should of noticed the faults on the house himself. We don't really know why the protential buyer no 2 had a change of heart in their purchase.  It happened after the building inspection was reported. I just taken it they didn't have the extra cash on getting the maintenance work done as listed.

Stay on this channel to find out if our sale was successsful in two weeks!

Last 17 years

Two weeks of Term 4 has passed so quickly.  Only another eight weeks to go and the end of the school year will approach us.  Year 12 will be the most busiest term yet as they finalized their educational needs and exams before their school life ends in November.

Like other weeks I have been busy this week.  As some people know we have this house on the market to sell.  We thought we had one protential buyer happening last month but they pulled out after the building inspection was done. This week we had the real estate agent over twice in one day with more protentials but no........ they weren't interested for one reason or another. I think our buyers don't really want to spend more money then they want. The real estate agent did say our market price might be abit too high for some people.  We might have to reduce the price again now!!  We have her over again in the morning with another potential buyer. Well.....we only hope they are!! I am trying my best not to get too hopeful at this point of time. I don't know what the deal will be if the house doesn't get sold by the end of this year.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I caught up with two friends for afew hours. It was good to catch up with both.  Yesterday I was at home catching up on afew things from my to do list.  Well I was trying my best to remain busy as the day I wished it didn't exist.  It was the anniversary of my baby I lost 17 years ago. Alot of people aren't aware of this as I didn't annouce such tragic event back then.  Over the years I learnt it was something I had to deal with by myself as I didn't really get the family and friends support I hoped for after miscarriaging my first child (at 15 weeks pregnant). The true duedate would of been around Anzac Day. Today my child (which I suspect it was a boy) if alive would of been 16 years old and in senior high school. I have my off days (especially if I see or hear a death of a child on TV) but I am getting better compared to afew years ago. I now believe he is my little fairy angel out there!! Seventeen years is a long time and I sure have done alot in that time...Raised two children, deal with sick or death of afew relatives and friends, introduced to scrapbooking and rubber stamping, casual work here and there and moved twice!!

Today was a long day!  My day began at 7:30am. Left the house with my 13yo.  Go to the petrol station, fill up my car with top fuel and then drove to Brisbane, along the SE freeway in peak hour traffic to the city.  The purpose of this trip was to send my child to her new school that will she commence at in 2014. It was a 2.5 hr transit program for year 7 SEU students into high school. But because my child is new to the area, the staff suggested for us to come along as well. So it help to make a decision to which school to pick for her.  After her first morning, she said she likes it and wants to go there next year.  She made two new friends and hanged about in the last hour.  This program goes for four weeks but the students go once a week over four weeks. On the last week, the parents are invited to have morning tea with the staff. But because of the current travel distance I am allowed to stay with my child during these transit meets. Also it will help me learn more about this small populated school that was in the media news earlier in the year. Apparently it was one of the schools on the government's list to close down but after a huge fight from the local community they were lucky to make the government to change their mind by remaining open for another 4-5 years. The school has only an enrollment number of under 300 but they are hopeful to try to get more new enrollments for next year.  I happened to overheard today they have 18 new enrollments for 2014 so it might be a good sign for them if the new enrollments continue to grow before term 4 ends.

Better go and get my family dinner prepared and serve.  Have a good weekend!

Term four started

School holidays are now over until December!  The students returned to school on Tuesday for the start of Term 4.  It was a short week due to the public holiday on Monday.  The girls seem to be happy to go back to school to see their friends as they haven't seen them in two weeks.

I had a busy week with normal commitments.  From Wednesday to Saturday I was mostly out with afew places to visit.

On Wednesday I had my morning appointment at the hospital. It was just a routine check up of my surgery scars. All's good!!  Being a public hospital I was amazed I was out of there within 30 minutes. The crowd started rolling in as I was departing the building at around 9am.

On Thursday I watched a friend prebowled for a league.  While I was in that general area I thought I would check out spotlight for curtains.  I was in there for an hour seeking which way was cheaper to do for two rooms. One ready made curtain was on sale for $20 but it needed to be shorten as it was well too long for the purpose needed.  Don't worry the leftover wasn't wasted!  I use that extra length for the same rod.  This curtain wasn't intend for a window.  It was more like an area to close off for privacy.  I have posted photos on facebook. The next curtain was for a bedroom window.  It was cheaper to buy the fabric then pre-made.  This fabric was only $6/metre.  There was just over 2 metres left on the roll and the lady gave me an extra 30% off.  It meant this fabric piece cost me under $10.  On Friday afternoon I sewn up both curtain projects and done two other projects. I was pretty tired last night!!

This morning I was off to the shops with Rachel to use her gift card she won at school just before school holidays started.  What a disappointed to find out the card was declined at two shops.  Rachel wanted a couple of items for her ipod so we went to Dick Smith store first.  After a hiccup there, the sale assistant asked us to visit the customer service for a new list of shops to visit with this card as they now declined on using them.  Once I told the customer service lady she wasn't happy!  She set them straight!!  First she told us and did check the card was valid and can be used as the details of the list hasn't changed.  Then she phoned Dick Smith store and ask them to contact the correct people about their terminal as there could be a fault there.  Anyway the customer service lady recommended another store to buy earphones at a cheaper price.  They except the same gift card too but guess what...it was declined too!  So in the end I just paid cash for her coloured earphones.

While I was in the shopping centre I enquired about wi-fi devices for the internet as I plan to use one after I move.  I asked four places and only one company (who deals with telestra) was the most helpful one.  She gave me some brochures for a prepaid and a monthly plan offer.  Got home to read them and here I was confused about MB and GB.  Well...I'm not a computer geek!  I was told MB is the lowest for the internet.

I think I will go down for a nap because I had a late night for afew nights this week.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

School Holidays ending

How's your last two weeks been going? Two weeks of school holidays are just about ending here in QLD.
It has been fairly busy (more on my part) these school holidays with my two teens. My eldest girl has been out socializing with her boyfriend on most nights of the week.  They have been together for six months now!  They just had their six month anniversary this week.  He got her this big teddy bear!! I wonder what kind of present she will get if they survived to their first anniversary of dating.

Besides packing boxes and making a couple of trips to store them, I managed to have some time catching up with two friends and had a day out go karting with the kids.  Supposely had plans to see a movie with my best friend today but I woke up with a severe back pain.  No idea on how it happened but I suspect it might of been the way I slept.  I didn't sleep well last night as I was tossing and turning which may led to the waking of the pain before daylight this morning.  I knew my plans for the day went out the window as I had struggles walking. I had since use a hot water bottle on my back for about 30 minutes and taken some strong pain relief which has ease the pain abit for the past two hours. But I will go back to bed shortly as it's starting to get uncomfortable sitting up.

As it's a long weekend this weekend, due to an unneccessary public holiday on Monday, I am not sure what I will get up to. It all depends on my back now.  My 15yo is probably glad to have Monday off school as she's got a big tournament to play at a bowling centre in Brisbane this weekend. This week she bowled the perfect game (300).  I am not sure if she will be entitled to any prizes as she was only subbing for this league on the ngiht she bowled the third game. I only dream of bowling that perfect game as I haven't done it myself on both real lanes and a computerized game.

Have a great weekend!  If you have travel plans, make sure your destination is a safe one.

September report

Goodbye September!  I can't believe 30 days of spring have gone out the window.  Also it's six weeks since I had my surgery.  The healing process went well and finally can have my life back to normal.

At least I can go back to bowling league this Sunday to resume play after a 6 week break.  I had a sub bowler in during this time but the bowler wasn't that great! Got worse each week. Like most bowlers they blame the lane conditions but after observing how these people play, they only got themselves to blame on the technique they use.  Only last week we dropped down one place on the standing sheet but no female has beaten my 200 game yet.

September was a busy month.  It was decided to get the house on the market to sell.  Within the first week it was sold but after all the pool fencing, building and pest inspections was organised and done, the buyer decided to terminate their contract within two weeks of signing.  Apparently our building and pest inspections wasn't satisfactory but we were never informed why??  Is it really the truth about the inspection or just a lie about the buyer changing their mind as they may found somewhere better? Right now I am more annoyed as we already started packing and some boxes are at a storage unit.

There was another buyer who was interested in buying a similar property like ours but they have to sell their house at the Gold Coast first.  About a week ago, I heard the house market down there was booming again so we might get lucky afterall.  There is a possible third buyer who could buy this house but doesn't want to go through a real estate agent so that might be the opinion to take if others failed. But first we need to know why the inspection wasn't satisfactory.

It's almost the ending of spring school holidays for QLD students.  As I said earlier we have been busy packing and cleaning up around the place but I did managed to catch up with a couple of friends these holidays. I caught up with a friend who's currently visiting in Australia.  She used to be a permanent resident of Oz, but she moved to European countries about 12 years ago.  It was nice to see her again after 8 years and she seems to be enjoying her lifestye overseas. I am thankful for social media so we can remain in touch.  I have known her since our early childhood years!  She's the longest friend I have known and stayed in touch all these years.

Last week I taken the girls to go karting as there was a school holiday deal on for local kids.  The weather was perfect and the girls had a great time driving go karts.  This week I am hoping to catch a movie or two at the cinema.

Now its October and hopefully it will be a pleasant month.  So far it's a good start for my 15 yo! She bowled a perfect game at bowling last night.  She's the first female junior to bowl a 300 at that centre.

Happy October everyone!

Start of School Holidays

How was your week?  This week marked the first week of school holidays and it has been quite a little busy week too.  The first two days were spent at home and other days I have been out.

On Wednesday and Thursday I spent my days catching up with two friends.  One friend I haven't seen for eight years as she has been living overseas. The main reason she had a trip to Australia because she lost a family member due to a serious illness.  But it was nice to see her in person after all this time.  We have been best buddies since early childhood.  Thank goodness to have social media!! We intend to stay in touch via the net.  Once I have settled into my new address, I should consider catching up with other friends I haven't seen in a while.

Today I taken the kids to Kingston Park Raceway to go karting. For $10 (under KRANK progam) each they had four rides on the go karts and a couple of other rides in their mini side show alley. They love it and had so much fun for afew hours during the day. Surprise the park was fairly quiet but it might be a different story on weekends when you pay full price to attend.

What's your plans for this weekend?   AFL Grand Final and Brisbane Riverfire is held this weekend and I won't be going to either event. Since October isn't too far away now, I need to get the packing finalized.  I only have afew more boxes to go through with craft supplies.  I am hoping to get that done by tomorrow night. Then make a start with upstairs and start packing things I don't need or use in a hurry.

Whatever weekend plans you may have, enjoy your time with the family!

Changes are happening faster then I predicted

Wow!  This month is flying by so fast.  It's already past half way into September and today is the last day of term 3 for school aged children.  They will have a two week holiday from next Monday.

Early this month we decided to get our house on the market to sell.  It was talked about in the last five years to sell up and move but this time it happened for a different reason.  Only a couple of close friends and my parents know the real reason why but I am not really ready to share with the world why this is happening.

All this month has been on the go with tidying up the house ready to sell and begin packing our belongings into boxes. The house was only on the market for a week when it got sold last weekend to a young couple who live locally. If all continues to go well with the contract, our settlement day to move out is 16th October.

As I said earlier school holidays are approaching, we will be busy packing and have a garage sale to sell items we don't want to take with us.  Since we started to pack I didn't realized how much craft belongings I collected over the years. I probably end up achieving my own dream to start up a small business online to sell my craft made products.  But at present time I have other issues to sort out so that goal may happen later on down the track once I settled down with my new life changes.

To all parents with children, enjoy your time with them over the school holidays.

August report

Goodbye winter!  Today is the first day of offical spring. Even through our season was only a wild one, I am glad it's over for another year.

Just when I thought July wasn't the best month, August was no better.  The first two weeks was fine but not in the remainder of the month.  I became ill and had to be in hospital for a couple of days during my birthday week. I had to have my gall bladder removed.  It was such a short notice event.  All I can remember I was in severe pain, worse then childbirth and the next moment I was in theatre to have my organ removed for life. It was a couple of days it hit me hard to realise what just happened.  It was more my own wake up call to improve in my health status.  I will admit I have been quite slack in the past couple of years only because I had other family issues on my mind to deal with.

Spring is now here and good time as any to make some changes to my life. There will be major plans taking place later on.  When the time is right I will annouce what the new changes will be then.

Hospital Stay

Its been twelve days since I last posted an entry in my blog.  Guess you are all wondering what happened to me.

Last week I was quite ill and in severe pain to end up in hospital for a couple of days.  I had my gall bladder removed as it was some major health issues to cause me quite ill. If any of you had this experience would understand what I went through in such an unexpectedly incident. The pain was worse then childbirth!!

The surgery of the removal happened on Wednesday night and there was some mild complications overnight.  By Friday afternoon I was discharge to go home.  The first night I managed to sleep well after four nights of bugger all sleep.

All this week I have been resting, sleeping and watching TV.  I'm not allowed to drive for a week so I had to get other people to go to the shops when required. Over the weekend my Dad and a friend came over to keep me company for a couple of hours as I was home alone all weekend. Also I had a close friend regularly contact me to see if I am okay.

By Sunday my emotions got the better of me.  It hit me hard to realised I now have lost an organ for life. I learnt this experience as my own walk up call to my own health and need to learn to choose better healthier eating habits.  I haven't jumped on the scales to see if I have lost any kgs since I became sick but my food intake has been alot less then I normally would comsume daily. Guess now is the good time as any to think about making better changes to myself.

40 hour famine

How is everyone's week been going?  It's been a short week as we had a public holiday on Monday for Brisbane EKKA. This carnival had been opened for 8 days now and I guess thousands of visitors past the entrance gates to have a fun day out with themselves or their family or friends. We never bothered going this year as it's too expensive to attend yearly.

Today is the start of the 40 hour famine and it will end on Sunday.  My eldest girl got involved for the first tme this year.  So it will be interesting to see how long she can last without food intake.  I know I couldn't because I would be feeling ill from lack of something in my stomach.  Don't get me wrong I do really feel for these poor starving kids in third world countries.  If I was there I probably would give some child a good meal if I could.  I don't believe in donations to many organisations because I heard it's the administrators of the organisation that gets our donated money.  What really ticks me off is how there are so many fussy eaters out in this world!  They just take food for granted.

Have a good weekend everyone!

August Begins

Hows everyone's week been going?  Nine days of August have passed on by and our temperature started to increase during the sunlight hours.  We had beautiful sunshine weather for the past week which is a good time to spring clean in some areas.  But I was more interested in sorting out afew boxes from upstairs because I was seeking something to use last week.

This week was a good time to get myself motivated to get back into a regular walk routine again.  I tried to walk twice a day at sunrise and about half an hour or so before sunset.  Our early mornings are still abit chilling but it's nice to go walking at that time without feeling so hot (like summer).

Brisbane Ekka started on Thursday.  At this point we aren't planning on going to the EKKA.  It gets too costly to go every year.  For one adult it costs $28 at the entry gate and that does not include any rides.  For a family of four it would cost $65 entry, add food to eat, showbags and afew rides, half your weekly wage would be gone.

There are two public holidays for next week for Brisbane Ekka. Logan has their day off on Monday while Brisbane has their day off on Wednesday.  Students used to had two days off school in the same week but the education department put a stop on student free days in August. But seriously do we really need a public holiday for EKKA?  The Brisbane EKKA goes for ten days and I am sure alot of people have the time to go if they wish to go anyday of the ten day event without having a public holiday for the carnival.

Enjoy your weekend!

July report

Goodbye July! I am thankful this month has been declared over as I had a rough month of receiving more bad news then good news. Either someone has died, had some form of surgery or been diagnosed with some form of cancer. What is going on in this world this century? Why are lots of people getting fatally ill to require surgery to remove an organ or have treatment for months? A couple of weeks ago I read some news feed post on facebook on how they wished it was the 80’s again. I kind of agreed with this as back then most of the past relatives I knew were still alive and kicking. Even had one of my cats off to the vet for an infected open wound as he got himself into a cat fight about 3 days before. He disappeared for around 40 hours and showed up at meal time in the morning. $150 later he got better within a week as I thought it was easier to get an antibiotic injection as he is the hardest pet to consume tablets. Don’t bother with any suggestions or tips on how to success in getting tablets down his throat because I have tried them all. Even the vet struggled on getting him to take a worm tablet at the clinic. This cat is one smart cookie!! The hardest part was to keep him indoors all the time as he is so used to outdoor living all the time. We try to keep him in at nighttime but times he is too quick at the screen door when I need to go outside for a reason or coming home late from an event. The worse part is if a household member forgets to lock the screen door, he can open the door himself and get out. I had abit of good news as well. Rachel was photographed for the local newspaper on the Fraser Coast. She was involved in a Paddle for Whales event with many other petitioners to save the whales in Hervey Bay in July. I had drivers my car for six months now and it had its first 10K done a couple of weeks ago. All’s good so far!! I am starting to see more of the same model on the road daily now. This morning there were three of us at the same set of traffic lights on Loganlea Road. My children’s report cards had arrived via snail mail and parent teacher interviews happened as well. Only on Tuesday afternoon I saw Rachel’s teachers. Her achievements results are good but her effort and behaviour into the workload isn’t as strong as it should be. Monique has started her school based traineeship this semester. She's doing sport and recreation. Her on the job training (and gets paid for it) is held at a primary school once a week on Fridays. She loves it!! Time to go as I have some house chores to do before the day ends. I already had a busy morning dealing with business phone calls to two people. Have a good month of August!

Friday 26 July 2013

Sport vs Work

Good morning all!  It's almost 8:30am here and I just got back from dropping off Monique to her school based traineeship.  She had her first day last week and she pretty much complained about muscle pain in her legs all weekend.  Guess that shows some of those leg muscles haven't been used for a while.
She studying to be a sports and recreation officer but her on the job training is based at a primary school.  There are ten trainees with two coaches to do various sporting activities with a group of students.  Different groups change every 45 minutes. She told me last Friday she enjoyed playing games with the junior grades and it's an advantage to get paid for haviing fun with the kids.
Monique's school have their sports day this week.  Monique isn't there today to do her track events as she's at work (that is kinda weird of saying that as I am so used to see her going to school). Her school had their field events yesterday but I got the impression she didn't have a good day successing a place from doing them. She was quite good at track events while at primary school but since she's been at high school she has slack off in her motivation to success.
This Sunday Moniuqe will be playing competition in a bowling tournament in Brisbane.  Wish her luck!
Whatever plans you have, have a good weekend!

Friday 19 July 2013

Semester two started

It's now two weeks since the girls have been back at school for the start of semester two. School report cards and parent teacher interviews might be happening in most schools this month.

Earlier in the week we received Monique's record card via snail mail.  She has done well with good acheivement grades in most subjects and all the teachers gave her good comments too. Her school's parent teacher interviws are held next Tuesday but I don't really need to speak to any of her teachers as I met them earlier this year. Back then they all stated she is going well at school.

On the other hand it might be a different story for her sister. I am still waiting for Rachel's first report card from high school as yet. Going by her primary school years results I am not really expecting a very high achievement student. I guess her report card might arrive next week as parent teacher interviews are held in the following week. I wouldn't be surprise if I need to see any of Rachel's teachers as I already had a phone call last term about an educational crisis with Rachel's assignment.

At long last Monqiue's traineeship has began.  She met to start on her on the job training last Friday but there was a mild hiccup from one of the institude's organisers. All's sorted out now and she started on her training schedule this morning. When I drop her off at the office this morning there was another young trainee waiting.  Both girls headed to the destination point to met up with the others.

Guess I will know in two hours or so on how her first day went. Apparently there are ten students from different schools who are on the same job training with two coaches at one primary school to teach a group of students each week about different sporting recreation activities.  At the end of this course all trainees will have a qualification as a sports and recreation officer. This certificate course should take a minimum of a year to complete.

To all the followers and readers who have students in school, all the best of luck to them for whatever year level or course they are studying this semester.

Better week ending

Hi everyone!  How was your weekend?  Thank goodness my weekend was better then during the week. I had a busy Saturday and more a lazy Sunday watching TV.

Saturday started off early as I had my car booked in for its first capped service (at 10K).  All is well there!  While I was waiting there for two hours I spent some time on doing some papercraft activities and crochet.

After the car service completed I drove to my parent's house to pick them up and we went to a RSL club for most of the day. We watched some light entertainment for three hours, had a big lunch and was involved in the raffles.  I won a meat tray!!

Have a good week!

Friday 12 July 2013

Worse week

What a week!  I thought Tuesday was bad enough but no....dramas kept on coming in for me! Life can be so challenging!! I am starting to wonder is that the reason why I was born.

After Tuesday one of my cats went missing for about 40 hours,  He came home injuried so off to the vet this morning. After an expense I don't want, I am hoping he will recover fully by this time next week.

On Wednesday both kids were sick and they had a day off school on the same day. Last night there was no hot water left for my shower.

And this morning Monique supposely started her on the job training.  Once we got to the destination we found out the venue had no clue what was going on. After multiple phone calls between schools, Education Department and the institude who offers her school based traineeship, we found out one particular person didn't do their job properly. Someone in the Education Deptment got back to me in the end with more details. If this person does the job right now she supposely start the on the job training next Friday. Monique was not a happy camper!!  She was so close to blowing a fuse at someone!!

Here's hoping for a better weekend.

Thursday 11 July 2013

Term three

School holidays are now over! And what a busy schedule we had for two weeks.  Besides my normal commitments we managed to see afew movies, a day of go karting and went out for two lunches and two dinners.

School resumed back on Monday which the first day went well.  Tuesday was the day I wished I stayed in bed as we experienced something we wished not to seen.  On the way to school Monique and I witnessed a car accident happened about half a km from our home address.  Like everyone says, accidents intend to happen near home.  In this case it was a truck t-bone into a small car near the corner shop.  I don't know how the female driver in the small car missed not seeing a truck coming but the poor driver in the truck tried his best not to have an accident.  I don't go into further details on how this accident happened, its bad enough to get repeated images of this event happened.  As far as we know the female driver survived this accident.

Well my day gets even better.  Once I arrived at the craft store, the first hour had bad news shared.  All I wanted to do was go home but I managed to stay and got my motivation done to complete afew scrap pages casually.

Yesterday both of my kids had a day off school because both of them weren't feeling well.  Even I didn't want to get out of bed either but I did and resume back to social bowling league again after a four month break.  I only just bowled over average games but didn't win any points.

Today seems to be a better start to the day. Both girls went to school without any dramas. After school will be busy as we have afew things to sort out.

Looking forward to my weekend as a couple of household members will be away for two nights. They plan to leave after school tomorrow and return on Sunday.  On Saturday I will be busy with afew events and hopefully on Sunday it will be more a relaxed and peaceful day.

Have a great weekend!  Remember safe travels on all roads.

Half year report

Goodbye June!  Hello July!  That is kinda funny saying that as there is one bowler jokes to a female bowler on most weeks saying HELLO JULY as this lady is really named JUNE.

All the years seeing the words "THE SUNSHINE STATE" on red(used to be green until about ten years ago)rego vehicle plates, I wouldn't say this part of the state had sunshine lately.  Inspite we started our winter season in the southern hemisphere we had cooler maximum temps of early to mid teens when it rains. On the weekend there were reports of seeing water sprouts out in the waters of North Stradbroke Island and the Gold Coast.

Now half the year has passed. I had a busy routine with normal commitments, seeing afew new release movies at the cinemas and spending some time with friends. At present time it is the second week of the school holidays for QLD students.  We had a busy week attending to go karting for one day and seen two family movies at the cinema.

Inspite the good news, we had a run of bad news as well.  I had three friends and three relatives with serious health issues.  Four people have been in hospital and had surgery and now on the road to full recovery. Another relative is required to have surgery this month.

In May, Creative Memories went into receivership so my craft workshops attendance have been stopped. For the past month I only been attending to casual scrap once a week at the craft store or do pages digitally at home.

Enjoy your month of July!

First week over

Good morning everyone!  How was your week?  The first week of school holidays is just about over.  The first three days we had beautiful sunny weather but since then the return of overcast days began on Thursday and rain resumed last night.  I think our weather forecasters are predicting will be more a wet and miserable week, next week. I will be glad when winter is over.

We had quite a busy first week of the holidays.  The only good thing about this school holidays, the girls and I can sleep in on some days. Also I had late nights staying up to watch abit of Wimbledon tennis this week. It doesn't look good for our famous players to win this year as three players already lost after round 2.

Wednesday will be in our history books as two events happened on the same day.  Besides QLD winnng the footy game 26 - 6, we had a leadership spill in the politics world.  Who was running the country that day?  All day they were like schoolyard bullying of who should be the prime minister of Australia. At 4pm on national TV, Julia Gilliard decided to call a leadership ballet to vote at 7pm between her and Kevin Rudd.   By 8pm that night, Kevin Rudd won with 57 votes!! After I was goggling information for my history scrapbook album on Thursday I found out Wednesday wasn't the first time this leadership ballot has happened. Julia Gilliard won in 2010!!  The main reason I forgot because I had a sick father to deal with that year.

On Monday we went go karting for one day in our local area. Our local council had a promotion for a school holiday package deal for kids who live in our city community. Normally it's $54 per person to have four races but the kids had the same amount of go kart rides and side show alley for $10 each.  But the only catch is you only can go one time per holiday season.

On Tuesday afternoon Rachel and I saw MONSTERS UNIVERSITY at the cinema.  It was a good movie but I didn't think it was a funny story plot as seen in the previews. Monique had her day with her friend on Wednesday.  They seen FAST AND THE FURIOUS 6 and EPIC at the cinema. Yesterday we all seen DESPICABLE ME 2 at the cinema with my best friend. I was the only one who thought this movie was funny!  Anyway, after the movie we all consume lunch at Sizzlers.  I couldn't believe my eyes how much the salad bar has gone up so much. For my girls and myself it cost me $61 for the salad bar and drinks. I won't be dining there again in a hurry.

My MIL phoned last night and pass on some family crisis news of their own. No word on how the FIL's test results went.  Supposely they came back to Brisbane on Tuesday for further tests but their old 4WD of 22 years went to car heaven. So yesterday she got themselves a new car.  Downsized to a hatchback now. Also found out one of their US cousins had died this week.  She had lung cancer! In all the years being married I haven't met all that side of the relatives because they simply live too far away. .

The morning period is now well over.  It's now lunchtime hour and it's time to have some lunch.  I think ham and cheese toasties might be ideal today.
 Have a good weekend!

Goodbye Semester One!

Hi everyone! How was your week? It has been interesting week with news via my social media.

Yesterday I found out my ex-consultant from Creative Memories is planning to joined up as a consultant for Close To My Heart company.  It's another papercraft company based from the US and they are going to expand their business opportunities to Australia from July 2013 and New Zealand from August 2013. They have already expanded out their business in Canada.... so who knows!  It could become a world wide business of papercrafters for customers and their consultants.

I had a good look at their US website last week and I was quite excited to see what products they have for sale.  I like the circut package idea where you get the stamp set as well as the cricut cartridge.  It's been quite a while since I last used my cricut machine and I think it's about time to get that machine going before it collects dust or needs some oiling in the motor.

Today was the last day of semester one for school age children.  This term Rachel has learnt on how to sew at school.  She made a small drawstring bag. Next semester she has two new electives to study.  One subject is about Business and IT and the other is about woodwork. I won't know either of their school results for semester one until after the school holidays as I was told in their latest school newsletter about when the reports will be posted and when their parent teacher interviews take place in July.

As from tomorrow all kids will be on school holidays for two weeks. More a headache really as I need to find activities to keep my teenagers occupied. At this stage next Monday and Tuesday has been planned.  As for the other days of the week I will worked out what to do later on.  Also it depends on the weather. I am hoping to catch a couple of new release movies and have lunch with my parents at the sports club they regularly attend to in the next two weeks.

Rachel is quite happy to be just at home to entertain herself on either her ipod or laptop while Monique thinks I am an ATM machine and have money coming out of my ears. There are alot of times I wish there was a money tree existed, then again....... where I live with alot of little finger thieves (including my two) my tree would have missing money. It would be gone like a bolt of lightning.

My holiday plans doing some activities with my kids could easily change as I had an unexpected phone call from a cousin of mine this afternoon. It turns out her mum (who is one of my aunties from Central QLD) isn't well. Her medical profession has found cancer in her bladder which will require major surgery.  She will have surgery in Brisbane at a private hospital after the school holidays. Don't worry it aren't the Wesley Hospital, thank goodness!  Otherwise I would dragged her out of their there very fast!!

Monique is now old enough to seek part time work so I am hoping over the holidays she will start dropping off her resume off to some businesses down the road. After these school holidays her school based traineeship supposely to start.  She will be attending to her on the job training as a sports and recreation person on Fridays and goes to school four days a week. After she leaves school, she plans on going to university to study teaching as a PE specialist.

How's the weather?  It's been a miserable day here today with clouds and rain periods. A couple of people called it the Duck's weather which I am sure the ducks loved swimming in their ponds. Rachel's school supposely had the second day of sports day on today but I think those events would of been postponed until after the school holidays. I have afew loads of washing to catch up on so I am hoping the weather prediction is right to have sunny days this weekend.

To all the QLD parents and teachers, enjoy your holiday time with your family.

Saturday Night Fever

We are now half way into June and only four days of term two left for school age children.  School holidays has never been my favourite time as I know my bank balance will drop.  Monday and Tuesday of next week has been organised but still have other days to sort out to keep my girls happy. My 13yo probably would be happy to stay at home and be at her laptop all day.  But I know that isn't good for her health. It's my eldest child who is the issue!! I think it's about time she starts seeking part time work as she's now old enough to start working.

How was your weekend?  My weekend was more like Saturday Night Fever as I had late nights of digital scrapbooking on Friday night. I was creating ten pages of my growing up years at home.  These pages can be seen on facebook. Tomorrow I supposely attend to my weekly casual and sit scrap but I will see how I feel in the morning. Today I was busy sorting out my paper and cardstock box to see what supplies I have got and can use in future page layouts.  Never realised how much supplies I have brought over time. In time it will be all used.

On Saturday night I was out with my best friend.  We had dinner and caught a late movie to see Iron Man 3.  It wasn't what I was really expecting but I did like the movie.  I don't think there will be anymore sequels of this one now.  The next movie I wouldn't mind seeing is Fast and the Furious 6. I have heard it's the continuation of number 5 and possible a number 7 might be out later on.

After afew hours sleep on Sunday morning I was busy downloading some music from itunes to my ipod.  Most songs are from the 70's era.  Rest of the afternoon I was sorting out my bowling record book and began on scrap prep of my yearly history album.

Time is moving on and I should get myself to bed and have my beauty sleep. Otherwise I will find it harder to get up on a cold morning..  Have a good week!

Long weekend

It's now the tenth day into our winter season and so far we have seen more overcast days then sunshine.  I did hear the weather forecaster say it was going to be more a wet and cold winter season this year. Guess that means our electricity bill will be on rise as the air conditioner and the dryer will be on the run.

When I woke up to rain this morning I forgot it was a public holiday (QUEENS BIRTHDAY) today.  For some reason I thought it was Sunday again. Maybe because my street seem to be fairly quiet and both Monique and I had a good sleep in until after 9am.  I could of easily slept more but I was woken up from a phone call.

The main reason why it's a quiet household because both Frank and Rachel went away for the long weekend.  They left before sunrise on Saturday and expecting to be back home at dinnertime tonight. Would of been nice if Monique went but she didn't go because she had a bowling tournament yesterday.

Most of this weekend had my own time to do whatever pleased me because Monique wasn't going to be home much either.  Either she had bowling or spending time with her boyfriend.  She's been dating this guy for about 2 months now. He seems to be a better sociable guy then her ex-boyfriend. But you know with teenagers you never know how long their teen relationships will last.

For first time in ages I slept for ten hours overnight.  That is because I had a close to an all nighter up on Saturday night. It was decided to do a DVD marathon night of watching five DVDs of Fast and the Furious as the sixth movie is now released at the cinema. I enjoyed most of this movie sequel.  Number three had different actors then the other movies.  Going by the story plot I feel it should of been the first movie but two other people told me number 3 movie should of been really be number five or six. Feel free to let me know what you think, only if you have seen the movie sequel.

Surprisely due to limited hours of sleep on Sunday morning I managed to bowl well last night. My team won all the points and I even won the fortnightly raffles.

Time to go as I have a couple of laundry loads to fold and put away.  The dryer had a good use this weekend.  Have a good week!

New season started

Goodbye Autumn! Friday was the last day of May.  It’s hard to believe May travelled by so fast.  At times I feel I need more hours in the day to accomplish more things to complete.
The first official day of Australian winter started yesterday but actually our winter season started about a month earlier then everyone predicted. It isn’t my favourite season of the year so I will be glad when the colder months pass on by. Now it’s the start of the winter flu season too which common colds already hit this household. I was offbeat for a couple of days with a heavy head and migraines and Monique had one day off school last week for the same reason.
How was your month of May? I was busy with things to do at home and places to go.  Also I managed to catch up with afew friends from bowling and craft and caught two new released movies at the cinema.
Two new renovation shows started on Channel 7 (HOUSE RULES) and 9 (THE BLOCK SKY RISE).  I intend to record one show while I watch the other as both programs are on similar time slots. But on Sunday nights both vcr are recording because I am not at home to watch any tv channels.  Not even the bowling alley has a TV on with free to air channels showing.
Also our part of the state had the closure of analogue TV signals on 28th May.  What a difference to see with full digital viewing of television now but we still use our top boxes as they are connected up to both VCRs.  Yes... we still own and use them as I intend to record alot of TV programs to watch later on or the next day if I am at home. We are aware once they stop operating permanently, we won't be able to buy another vcr recorder as they don't exist anymore.
How was your Mother’s Day? Monique and I bowled in a friendly based tournament at Logan in the morning.  We managed to win the competition!  I was given a pair of animal slippers (which Monique wants to wear but her feet are too big) and a box of chocolates. I don’t know which person polished away those chocies as I didn’t get a great deal of them. Like everything else I own or wish to consume, it intends to disappear!!
It has been abit of a mixed bag with unexpected news this time round. Besides hearing the bad news about an old feline friend and a sick relative, the best highlight of the news would be: Creative Memories went into receivership after two decades of operation in US. Guess this means my workshop dates with our consultant will be reduced greatly.  I am not taking it as a big deal as I have learnt a lot over the years.  I have a local craft store I can visit or go more digitally and complete pages at home. This month I was casually busy on trying to get my girl’s school albums up to date as I have both girls now in high school.
Also I have been busy journaling at home for my new project.  It’s about history of my life since the day I was born. Most of the journaling is about world history of events taken place yearly.  I have been working on this on either Friday nights or some weekends which I will get back to shortly.
Our CM consultant hosted her final Memoranza Day last month.  It was a seven hour event held in a function room at a Lawn Bowls Club, south west of Brisbane.  During our lunch break I watch a competition match of lawn bowls for about 20-30 mins. It was very interesting to watch.  It looks very simple to play!  The only difference between lawn bowls and ten pin bowling is the weight of the ball and the power of throwing it.
Speaking of bowling, we are now half way into the season for Sunday night league. My team stayed 3rd place for many weeks and after just two weeks of losing, we lost our top 3 placing for Sunday night. But no other female has beaten my high game scratch (223) as yet. Monique has played in two tournaments in May. She played one at her home centre and the other match was played at the Gold Coast. Monique’s high game for the year so far is 236 (and it is a lane record at Logan).
Monique had her second interview (induction process) with QIS at her school.  In one hour we completed the enrollment and employment packages.  She will commence her school based traineeship at the beginning of semester two.
All the best of luck and happiness for a new beginning of a new season.  To my followers and readers who live in the southern hemisphere, remember to rug up well and take great care of your health.
