February report

Just about to say goodbye summer as it is the last day of February today.  We had quite a wild and wet summer season throughout the country so it will be interesting to know what the weather will be doing during the next three months of autumn.

How was your month of February?  Like usual I was busy with normal commitments of being a parent as well as enjoying going to weekly bowling and scrapbooking meets in my new car. Also I had the chance to catch two new release movies at the cinema.

Monique's school had their annual swimming carnival about two weeks ago.  She came 3rd in the 50m breaststroke.  She did qualify for the districts but I wasn't going to drive to the Gold Coast for just one event on a rainy day.

Rachel has been in high school for a month already.  She seems to be going okay so far but we did have to change one subject as she was having strong difficulties in learning French.  She wasn't the only SLI student with the same problem of learning another language.  At this point I was told Rachel is better on focusing in learning more of literacy and numeracy instead. Guess I will know by her first report card on how well she is really going as she doesn't say alot about her school days to me.

Mainly food studies and art is all I hear about from Rachel.  She has cooking sessions on Fridays and so far she made an arty created fruit salad, pizza and banana muffins. Photos have been posted on facebook and twitter.  Tomorrow she makes pikelets!!

The main problem is she doesn't come with the full servings of each item cooked.  She either consumes it herself or shares with friends on the way home from school. By the time I saw the pizza a couple of weeks ago, it looked to be more pac-man shaped and the muffins were half gone last week. I wonder if we see any pikelets tomorrow??

I had the new car for a month now and the vehicle had its free inspection last Saturday. All's good so far. I feel I am so spoilt of having this kind of luxury to drive. I could never go back to driving an older model car without a reverse camera, power steering or electronic windows.

Even the dealership gave my car a car wash and vaccuum and it looked good and smelling so clean.  But it wasn't long before the car was rained on again with water marks. I am thankful my big car mats are made of rubber. It's easier to clean then having just carpet based floors in the car.  I have made the new rule for any passenger to not consume any kind of food or leave any rubbish inside my car.

My regular TV shows have returned to air.  At present time I am mostly following My Kitchen Rules and The Block All Stars nightly.  Sure there is alot of personality clashes on both shows.

Time to go as I have some house chores to catch up with today. Enjoy the next new season for the next three months!

Life is too short!!

How's your past week has been going?  I have been busy as usual with things on at home or places to go. On Sunday night we had our bowling league which my team managed to win all the points.  YAHOO!  I am only guessing we might of moved back up on the charts again. My team mate bowled a good 200 game in game 3.

Last week I had two very late nights in a row which my tiredness finally caught up with me on Saturday as I only slept for 10 hours over two days.  I slept all afternoon on Saturday!! And surprisely I went back to bed at around this time that night.  Normally if I have a Nanny nap in any afternoon I am up all hours that night.

On Saturday morning I had my booking at the dealership to get my new car done with its free inspection to see if the car is running well.  Alls good!!  The dealership even gave my car a  wash and vaccuum.  At least that is one less job for me to do!  Then again this week it has been raining so my new car had it's free wash from heaven.

A new working week has started and what a wet start it has been too.  We had heavy rain periods for three days now and flash flooding has started in some low areas and creeks across the state.

Driving in the wet conditions aren't no fun!!  It is recommend to travel a little under the speed limit but there are idiots out there don't do the right thing.  Looks like some accident happened overnight on Sunday as the traffic light pole was down.  I take it some driver taken the corner too fast at these lights interaction on Queen's and Loganlea Roads and went for the pole instead. At after school pick up yesterday we seen a ute driver ran a red light.  Not once but twice in such a short intersection on Loganlea Road.

Last week I received some bad news.  One of my craft friends has a very sick husband with a very aggressive brain tumour.  He has only been given two months!!  Apparently this brain tumour is so aggressive and advanced, it can't be operated or have chemo. I only seen the guy only a couple of times when he came into the craft store to pick up his wife.  But I feel I kinda know him on the way the woman speaks so highly of her husband.  Now I feel for his wife and family to witness the last months of his life.  Going by what I heard, it aren't pleasant to see an aggressive (or possibly abusive) patient having the side effects caused from a mean brain tumour.

Time for bed as it's getting late and I am tired!!  In 12 hours I have social bowling league.

The nightowl is back

Why do our weekends have to travel on by so fast?  In 14 hours it will be the start of Monday again. This weekend has been fairly quiet as Rachel is away at Grandma's in Hervey Bay, QLD.  Her father taken her up to see his side of the family overnight.  Not sure how much beach time they might of had if it is overcast, windy and wet like down here in SE QLD. Yesterday we had a brief storm passing over at around lunchtime. On facebook last night I saw a photo posted of a funnel cloud/waterspout happening near Kelvin Grove (inner city suburb of Brisbane).

Yesterday I attended to a scrapbook workshop until 1pm.  I had a productive time creating afew pages using both CM and AZZA techniques. I will have two scrap meets again this week.  We will have a scrap camp held one weekend in April so it will be an advantage for me to complete a project or two I am behind with. That would be the next time I would be a real nightowl to stay up until late (around this time) and scrap.

It was around 2pm by the time I got back home from scrapbooking as I called in to the shops on the way home to buy some essentials for my laundry to wash.  I happened to run into one of the mums from ex-primary school. We spoke for about 15 minutes in the carpark. Just giving brief updates on what our high school kids are up to these days. The last time I saw her would of been before summer school holidays started in December.

Last night I had a busy night downloading more music from itunes to my ipod.  Afterwards I discover on how to sync my ipod music to my computer.  It taken a while to transfer 54 songs.

I do miss my younger years when I was a real nightowl.  Nearly every weekend I would be out to all hours, raging at nightclubs or visiting friends.  I wonder what nightclub lifestyle would be like in the 21st century??  On odd occassions I have been out to catch a late movie session on Saturday night.  Once the movie ended we would walk past one of the restaurants who intend to trade longer.  They have a small function room as a nightclub.  All we could see is security guards watching the young adults, raging to all hours of the night I guess.  The music is so loud!! I don't think I would enjoy being a nightclub these days as their music is so loud with modern 21st century rap style.

Hopefully I will get an early night as I was a real nightowl last night. It was around 3:30am this morning by the time I got to sleep.  I would of slept longer but I was woken up by a phone call at 7:30am. But for now I have some house chores to catch up with before Rachel returns home tonight.

Have a good week!

Weekend almost here

Can't believe its Friday already.  Can you?  I had another busy week with normal commitments. My new car milege is increasing faster then I first thought. Next Saturday it has been booked at the workshop for its first free 1000km inspection to see if the car is working good.

Did anyone celebrate Valentine's Day?  Did you have a nice day with your love one?
Rachel made me breakfast in bed this morning. It was her ideal present to me from her for Valentine's Day.  She made an omelette with diced bacon. It was very nice!!  Also she made me a card.

Today, Monique's high school hosts their swimming carnival at an aquatic centre in Cleveland.  Not a good day for a carnival as it's a wet and overcast day with temperatures around the mid 20's mark.  Today is the kind of weather to sleep!!  And believe me that is how I feel at present time....so tired!!!!!!!! Hopefully I will get to bed early tonight as I had afew late nights this week.

What's your plans for this weekend?  Rachel will have an overnight stay at Grandma's in Hervey Bay this weekend wth her father. I don't really know the purpose of this trip but I hope the weather will be pleasant to them.  Tomorrow I will be at another scrap workshop until 1pm.  As for the rest of the weekend I will simply take it as it comes.  Probably try to catch up on things to do around here.

Better go as I have some things to do this afternoon.  Also I am waiting for a second parcel to arrive too.  I was over the moon when the first order arrived here this morning.

Have a good weekend!

21st century

How was your weekend?  On Saturday I had an enjoyable day catching up with a friend.  I stayed on for dinner and watched the footy with them until 9pm.  It was after 10pm by the time I got home.  Then I had a late night as we watched George of the Jungle 2 movie on DVD.

After a good sleep in yesterday morning, the day was more at home catching up with emails, listened to an internet radio channel and downloading music from itunes on my ipod. So far I have purchased 29 songs from 70's to 21st century hits. And I will have many more to download over time.  Majority of my songs will be from the 80's decade as it was more my era back then.

Yesterday afternoon I did go the shops to window shop for ipod docks.  SInce I own a new ipod touch (5th generation), it seems there might not be new docks created for the 5th generation ipods.  The lady at the electronic store told me the companies aren't planning on making any new docks for ipods like mine. She could be wrong as the 5th generation only just came out late last year. But at present time I only can buy accessories to fit in stereos or use bluetooth.  It seems only my new car is the most compatible one to use with my ipod as the home stereos aren't new in this household.

This morning I was at the school to pay for sport and another day uniform for my youngest child.  It seems once the child reaches school age, it costs more money. It never ends!!  Sometime ago I heard it costs around $1 million to raise a child in their lifetime. To all the followers and readers who have parents would understand the cost of living with a child/ren.  These days children don't intend to leave home before they are 25 years old.  Will my kids do the same??

Better go as I have some housework and scrap prep to do this afternoon.
Have a good week everyone!

Normal Commitments Again

Hi everyone!  How's your week been going?  The kids have been back at school for 1.5 weeks now and they seem to settled down quite well at high school.  Rachel has found a new friend from her new school environment.  This girl comes over daily to pick her up in the mornings and drop off in the afternoons.  So far the plan is working to get Rachel the incentive to wake up early and be ready on time.
Even through I enjoy driving in my new car, the school routine down the road is a nightmare because of the roadworks near the school.  Instead of driving there it is easier for her to walk to and from school with a friend. The only time I would drive in is to pay a school invoice which I have to do on Monday now as it is due. Also I need to purchase another formal uniform for her to wear as I only purchased one last month. The problem is this school doesn't have EFTPOS at their uniform shop.
Yesterday Rachel had her first cooking class.  Her class made an artistic fruit salad with fresh fruit in season and it was placed into a rockmelon half that was fancy cut in half. A photo was posted on facebook and twitter!!  Next week her school starts Interschool sport.  She signed up to play touch footy on Tuesday afternoons.
Besides school routine and other normal commitments I had two scrap meets on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  The second meet was the first workshop to do a simple layout.  But like always I intend to change the layout idea to suit my page requirements.  These days I intend to incorporate both CM and AZZA styles into my scrapbooking pages.  There was a rumour about our first weekend scrap camp might be held in March.  If that is the case I better get some photos and page layout ideas sorted out soon. At least I know which project to work on this time.
On Monday I went to the cinema with my best friend to see THE HOBBIT. Like Lord of the Rings trilogy, it would be one of those movies I wouldn't see again in a hurry. I found this movie was abit too daunting with the time length of viewing (3 hours).  Also I am not a huge fan to sci-fiction fantacy stories. If you don't remember the trilogy of LOTR, the story plot was about the golden ring to be returned while in the movie THE HOBBIT, the story plot is about the ring was found by the Hobbit.
Better go and get afew house chores completed before heading out to catch up with a friend this afternoon.   Have a good weekend!
