November report

Oh boy!  Only 20 days until Christmas and 27 days until we all say farewell 2014!! Where is this year going??? Who has completed their Christmas shopping?

We already said goodbye to Spring as summer arrived early.  We had hot days and a couple of doses of good thunderstorms with damaging winds and hail for some areas of the SE coast. Not sure what Mother Nature will continue to have installed, if she is still on her angry path course. I plan on taking a week's summer trip with Monique in the New Year.  Where we plan on staying has a high risk of having tropical cyclones hit if the cells hit inland early.

November was a busy month for me. Besides normal commitments I had attended to an overnighter craft retreat at the Sunshine Coast. It was my first time to stay at this resort and I was quite impressed with the venue.  The staff were friendly, the food was fantastic and the beds were very comfy.   Consider it was only an overnight stay I managed to be productive and worked on two projects.

On the 16th November was the last night of bowling league. On the following week we had our fun night of bowling.  We played two games of bingo, had a BBQ dinner and Rachel managed to win the raffle. She came home with a big bag of goodies for the family to use. At the end of the month we had our official break up party at a sports club.  I did well on the night which you will have to read my sports blog to know the full results.

Monique just finished her year level for the year and she got another academic award.  It was her second year in the row to get another top student award in Art.

The best highlight of my month was seeing two US choppers flying over past my house.  One of them suppose to had the US president on board going home after the G20 convention held in Brisbane.  We had a public holiday on Friday (14th Nov) which was on high security alert for the airport and CBD areas for the welcoming of the world leaders to Brisbane.

All the best for a happy festive season.  I hope your festive celebrations will be full of joy and peaceful with your family. If you have any travel plans over the break, I hope your destination will be a safe journey.

October report

I done it again!  It's already past half way into November and I haven't done my October report.  I had a busy November so far but I will give that report in 2-3 weeks time.

It's supposedly be the last month of spring but summer already started in the south east states of the country. One thing I have noticed our daytime hours begins early.  Most days I have woken up well before 6am.  Either I get up to get the laundry done early or sleep abit longer. This weekend I have slept in until past 9am as I had very late nights up at my friend's house.

October was a quieter month as I had said in previous posts I had the flu.  I have been still coughing for six weeks now but not as bad I was weeks ago. Also I had two moles removed and the results were good!  I don't have skin cancer!!  It was my biggest health scare of my life!  It was my wake up call to think about my health.

I don't have the body like a sexy model and I thought about time I should do something to look more attractive. Since the daylight hours are now early I should get myself up at sunrise and go for my morning walk around the community before the UV rays set in at 8am.  Where I live there are alot of hilly streets to walk on. Also thinking of taking up aqua aerobics again, just I got to find an indoor pool centre who does them in this side of town.  I know of a pool place at The Gap where I done aqua aerobics over 25 years ago. It would be a 10-15 minute drive from my home address.  On that note maybe I should consider this as my 2015 new year resolution. But like other years I never seem to stick to my plans or goals.

Until next report, have a good remainder of November.

September report

September has been and gone already and it's almost half way into October now.  It hasn't been a good start for me which I previously mentioned in the last post "MY HEALTH SCARE".

But September was a good month not as busy as August was. Besides the common craft meets I attended two birthday parties and watch a movie at the cinema with my best friend.

My kids just returned back to school last week after two weeks of spring vacation. I managed to spend alot of time with them both. We had days of shopping, going to the cinema, social bowling, dining out and a day at Dreamworld.

Rachel had one week at home with me then her second week at her father's. It was nice to have a break from parenting for over a week.  Last two weekends she was at Grandma's who helped her make her Halloween costume.  It's all completed and ready for Halloween on 31st October.

Enjoy the rest of October!

My health scare

Welcome term 4!  It hasn't been a good start for either myself or my daughters as we all came down with the winter virus on the first week of this term.  I am the one pretty much copped the virus worse then them since last Tuesday.  All the plans I had scheduled for last week were cancelled!

On Thursday afternoon I visited a local GP to where my parents go to check on my cough as it wasn't good.  She said it was more a viral thing but why did she give me an antibiotic prescription then if the virus is only viral?? While she was checking my cough and breathing at the back she spotted a 1cm mole. She was more concern about the mole then my flu after that!!  I was scheduled to return this morning to have the mole removed but I had to postpone the appointment because of my coughing fits.  As soon as I lay down on my bed, my coughing fits go off for hours.  As you may imagined how I feel right now after two full nights of coughing. Everyone else in this household are on edge because they had lack of sleep because of me coughing most of the night.  I will be glad when this coughing stops!! I think I will visit another GP elsewhere (who bulk bills as my parent's surgery costs alot for just consultation) for another opinion of this virus.  I am starting to think it's more asthma then just bronchitis. I only get asthma when I have a flu virus and thankfully it has been afew years since I last had an attack of this maybe because I swam alot throughout the summer months in our pool. But since the move I haven't done any swimming for the past year. And it could be the environment I moved back to may be making me asthmatic again.

I was aware about the mole before as a very close friend of mine mentioned it and should get it seen. But most people aren't aware I am not the type of person to visit a GP until I am at least half dead so to speak!! I felt this way because of bad experiences with a couple of GPs before of not making me feeling welcome to return.

Most of the time when I get a cold or flu I just get over the counter medication from the chemist which intends to work most times but not this time round. It seems alot of people are currently sick with the same flu virus.  I was told it could take up to 2 weeks to get rid of it.  Just what I need: two weeks of sleepless nights!  I am on edge now from lack of sleep for two nights!  Imagine what I will be like after two weeks??  I will be like a volcano erupting and I am not even a red head!

Don't worry my mole will be dealt with as soon as I get over this coughing stage!  I might go to a skin clinic instead as I know they have more experience in this field then a GP would do.  I was going to have my back cut from a GP (which I feel not confident of her doing it) this morning. Its only a small mole but I will end up with a 3cm scar afterwards. I know this is a benefit for my health to be done but I had to put up with back pain all my life.  I don't like anyone touching my back  in chiro or physio style!  And having a cut down where it normally hurts is going to be rough for a couple of days.  I am sure with modern medicine has other ideas on how to remove this mole without cutting a person skin. I do know there is a cream to kill off the mole and laser method done!!  But I guess that comes with a cost too!!

Watch this space!  I will let you know what the outcome will be in the end.
But remember this especially if you are a fair skin person, if you go into the sun, make sure you have sun protection on with a good sunscreen and a hat.  And try to avoid going into the sun in the middle of the day because that is when the high UV rays at their highest level. Even on a cloudy day you can still get sunburnt too!

Term 3 report

Goodbye term 3!  Today is the last day of school before school holidays start for two weeks.  I haven't made any concrete plans on what activities to do with my girls but I can point out I will have a couple of craft meets during the holidays.

Term 3 was quite busy with normal commitments involving Rachel attending school daily. Her semester one report card was seen and attended to the parent teacher interviews after the winter vacation in June/July.  There is a couple of minor hiccups with her learning but she's going okay in most areas. She enjoyed more hands on subjects the most!

Also her school had their annual sports day.  She did well in afew events but she didn't qualify to enter the districts.

As for myself I have been busy with the job seeking department.  I had afew interviews via phone or in person but I don't seem to be the successful applicant because the lack of certificates requirements.  I think in term four I should consider doing some volunteer work and get my first aide certificate done. Also my qualifications need to be completed but I am abit hesitate on enrolling as I don't want to waste my money if I can't get a job after all.  I had an interview with the employment agency too and the lady who interviewed me said about the office course I studied in the 90's is no longer valid for any office jobs.   I never got any office jobs successful after that course because I was too slow of a touch typist.  But it was useful for our family business in the last decade.

Bowling has had its up and downs throughout the year but I started to get more over average games this semester.  Even my team finally moving up the chart.  We are now in the top 10 placings!! I managed to win the raffle twice in August.

The best highlights of my term was attending to a live footy game, two concerts and one camp which I would of already mentioned in previous posts.  Just go back to July and August reports to get the full details about them.

Better go as I have some house chores to catch up on today as I will have a busy weekend. I have two craft workshops and a birthday party to attend to.

To all parents who have school holidays with their kids, have a good break!!  If you have any travel plans, make sure your destination spot is a safe journey.

Lucky August

Goodbye winter!  Australia is now into spring season which started 8 days ago.  Our night time still gets abit cold at times but our daytime temperatures are lovely when we have full sunny days.

At long last, August was the best month I had in six years.  Other years I had the news of someone in hospital or death.  This time it was a good month with no flu from either my Rachel or myself. I actually had a lucky streak of winning raffles too.  I won cash at bowling twice, a stamp set at craft and two dinner vouchers at the club.

One lunch with craft friends at a local pub in Ipswich, a surprise morning at a craft meet and three dinner dates at a club, only because I had free vouchers from the clubs I am a member at.  On my birthday I had a buffet dinner with Rachel at Broncos League Club.

But the best highlight of August was seeing two concerts:  Pseudo Echo and Daryl Braithwaite. Seeing Pseudo Echo has been my dream for two decades. And to make my night even better I got to meet the lead singer "Brian Canham" in person. Another fan taken a photo of us on my behalf and Brian signed my CD.

Also I went to a rubber stamp camp at the common venue spot where I go to scrapbooking camps.  Because I was on a waiting list for possible attendance, it came to a surprise to find out three days beforehand I could attend (as two members dropped out).  I couldn't show up until Saturday morning as I was out at Daryl Braithwaite concert on Friday night. I had a great time and been productive on completing their workshops, make and take classes and started on creating Christmas cards for my card list.

Until the next report, enjoy your start of spring season!

Thursday 7 August 2014

July report

How was your month of July?  I hope all is well your way.

Seventh day into August is here!  This is the last month of winter but I think summer might arrive early as we had a very warm day last Friday. The perfect day for me to cope with! I hope our summers will be like this one. If I can remember correctly it was the day I stayed at home to catch up in my laundry.  All loads were dried by lunchtime!!

Like every other month, July was a busy month too with normal commitments to do and places to visit regularly.  The best highlight of my month was to watch NRL live in Brisbane on a Friday night. I left my car at home as its only a half hour walk to the stadium. I went with a friend which we met up there at the entrance gates to watch Broncos vs Storm (who are a Melbourne team). It has been over 20 years since I last watch a live footy game so I enjoyed my night out.  I didn't care who won as it was a good match to watch!  Storm won that night 30-8.

In July Rachel had her sports day at her school.  She came 2nd in 200m track event.  Also she had her parent teacher interviews to discuss her semester one report card.  The main focus she needs to work on is to gain her confidence on more challenging learning outcomes on new topics. Other then that she is progressing well. It seems food studies is the subject she is working well at as the teacher said she can work independently without help.  Her teacher feels this area would be the best career option for her to chose.

So far August has been good month and I have done something new.  But you will have to simply wait until the end of the month to know what the latest report is.

Have a good month!

School holiday report

Goodbye Semester one!  Hello Semester two!  Back to school resumed today after all QLD students had a two week break.  Rachel had spent her school holidays in Hervey Bay, staying at her Grandma's.  I think she was happy to be back home as she missed me and our pets.  I was happy to see her return back home safely last night.

During the two weeks of school holidays I managed to spend my time with Monique while her father was at work.  We had our days of shopping, dining out, social bowling and seen 3 movies.  We had seen 22 Jump Street, Blended and Edge of Tomorrow (with another friend of mine).

On the other days of the past two weeks I had my normal commitments, downloading iTunes music, spending time with my best friend: dining out at two clubs and seen another movie "X-men.  We went to the club on last Saturday night for dinner and watch some light entertainment from a local couple.  They sang a lot of good stuff from the past and present.

Also I had my craft meets of scrapbooking and stamping on particular days.  This week I will have two meets during the week and busy weekend with two all days scrap events at a function room. This week I will have to prepare my pages ready for tomorrow and this weekend.  Over the weekend I was busy printing some photos and now I have to sort and prepare some pages later on today.

For the past two weeks my bowling on Sunday nights has been good.  We won all the points in both weeks, I have bowled over average games and finally my team has moved up one place on the ladder after being at one spot for many weeks.

Better get back to checking emails and job hunting.  Already applied for 7 Nanny positions this morning.  Have a good week!

Thursday 3 July 2014

Goodbye semester one

Its obvious this year has been flying on by so fast.  Two months has passed since my last monthly report was blogged on here.

May and June were quite busy with alot of commitments on involving single parenting, job hunting, craft workshops and meets involving both scrap-booking and stamping, catching up with friends, afew dinners have been dined out at two clubs, catching a few new release movies at the cinema and bowling.

After being introduced to CTMH I returned back to the stamp club in Brisbane.  Our craft meets are held fortnightly on Wednesdays. Recent meets were make and take classes where club members either made a greeting card or off the page project.   Also I returned to Stampin' Up classes in June.  The first workshop we had 9 cards to make in 3 hours.

On the long weekend of June I attended to my first CTMH camp for the year. It was a good weekend to be productive.  I managed to completed many pages in my albums.

On 3 May I attended to the model train show in Brisbane with a couple of friends. After viewing a few displays it brought some childhood memories back. Alot of people don't know I am more into trams then trains.  Yes.....I did see a tram display at the show. About 20 years ago I went to the tram museum in Ipswich.  Now the Gold Coast has a tram service which I should go down there for a day, just to catch a ride on the tram.

On 6 May I had my first parent teacher interviews at Rachel's school.  All of her teachers I met had positive outcomes with Rachel.  After abit of a slow start settling into her new environment, she is progressing well.  Since she is studying wood and metal work, she has been creative and made afew items at school and brought them work to keep.  The latest item was a wall clock. The background is more a wolf scene at night-time.

Mother's Day in Australia was celebrated on 11 May.  I spent the afternoon with Monique as Rachel was at Grandma's for the weekend.  Monique and I had lunch at Pizza Hut then went shopping and had social games of bowling near her home address.

On 18 May it was my Dad's birthday.  I went to a RSL club for lunch to celebrate the occasion.  The club had light entertainment and raffles going that afternoon.  If I can remember correctly I think our table won a couple of prizes.

On 20 June I had lunch at Mt Coot-tha with a friend I have known for over 20 years.  We first met at college when we both studied a short course in office skills. Speaking of college, I think I should consider my enrollment done and start in semester two.

Right now it's school holidays for students in our state.  My first week has been busy catching up with Monique, seen three movies, one dinner outing and had two craft meets. Rachel is currently absent from home.  She's having a holiday at Grandma's in Wide Bay area.

Time to go and think about dinner. Have a good weekend!

April report

Where did April go?  Like always I have been busy being a single parent and attending to regular events and places each week.  The only difference with me is I now wear reading glasses. I had trouble reading my SMS from my mobile phone and instructions on most items.

Still job hunting regularly but I think I will start studying soon. I have got the paperwork to fill out. I plan on studying children's service certificate/s.  Just I need to find a suitable field placement to attend weekly at a school (to do out of school hours and vacation care).  This was the area I worked in before Monique was born.

Was introduced to Close to my Heart. It's another paper crafting company from US that is based on stamping and scrapbooking.  Like Creative Memories you have a consultant to buy products from and attend to workshops.  I have met three consultants and attend to workshops with two consultants.  One consultant has regular workshops on some Wednesdays each month, 3 all day meets per year and one camp. The next camp is held on the long weekend in June.  And I am going!  I paid in full yesterday!! Consultant number 2 host only Sunday workshops once a month. Consultant 3 hosts all day meets once very two months.

Where did term one of schooling went? Going by Rachel's mid term report card she settled in very well at her new school.  Parent Teacher interviews occur next Tuesday evening which I plan on attending, just to meet the face to the name of her teachers.  I already met a couple of her teachers in term one when I attended to their school events.  Monique's report card arrived before the holidays (I think) but I didn't see a copy until school holidays.  She had perfect attendance but her grades could be better!  Majority of her subjects are a pass but one subject is the lowest I have ever seen on her report card.  I won't go more into details about this matter as I'm not happy with her father as it is.

Yesterday Rachel's school had their annual cross country event after lunch. Rachel came 16th.  I am not 100% sure when the districts are on but I take it isn't too far away at all.  A good thing about yesterday it wasn't raining or too hot to run with the sunshine inside the clouds. The course was 3.2 kms and the students ran behind the school and local streets.  Rachel said they had two hills to run up and down which I think this course would of tied her out.  She did collapse at the finishing line!

Term one of school ended on 4th April.  The students had two weeks of school holidays before Easter.  We didn't do much as Monique became very ill with glandular fever.  I had to take her to the doctors afew times while her father was at work.  At the time of leaving her home address for one appointment, she fell down the stairs and sprained her ankle. In between dealing with her and her health crisis, I managed to have one afternoon for Rachel to go social bowling with afew friends of ours. I wanted to go to the movies but she didn't want to see the same movies I wanted to see.

It's now the first day of May and the second month into autumn but we might be in for an early winter as BOM predicts a cold start this weekend. On 15th April we had the lunar eclipse seen in our eastern sky.  Rachel and I went up to Mt Coot-tha lookout to view the moon.  Like me, half of Brisbane thought of the same idea to pick the best spot to view.  I parked my car about 1 km away from the lookout!

How was your Easter?  I was away over Easter with a friend, stayed at a friend's apartment on the Gold Coast for three nights.  It was worthwhile to be away to relax, do abit of sight seeing and beach walks at night.  One night we had seen the moon rise late on the ocean's horizon.  I was amazed how big and orange the half moon was. Only three days before we had the lunar eclipse which wasn't as big to see that night.  Actually we were lucky to see it as there was abit of cloud cover too that night. Channel 9's weatherman was at the lookout and he done the weather report live that night.

On Tuesday afternoon we had the solar eclipse but Brisbane wouldn't of seen it because we had clouds about.  Going by the afternoon news on TV, it seems Perth might of had the best view of seeing the solar eclipse as they showed the sun changes on TV.  Because I was driving the car that afternoon I had to tell Rachel not to look at the sun.  It was harder for me too because the sun was more in the way while driving to Pizza Hut for takeaway Pizza.

Better go as I have a craft swap to finish off.  Have a good month!

Saturday 5 April 2014

March report

Wow!  Where did March go?  I guess I was that busy with normal commitments and extras I didn't realised the month has been and gone five days ago.

Tomorrow it is Rachel's birthday but she will be at her father's this weekend.  He is going to take her and her sister to Seaworld for an experience of a lifetime........swim with the dolphins!! On Wednesday night Rachel and I went to the sports club for dinner with some friends of mine. This club had their weekly raffles on but I didn't win a thing!  One of the other guests at our table managed to win $1000.

My past month has been busy like any other single parent.  I finally got myself online at home but with a mobile wi-fi device. Also I am learning more about windows 7 on my laptop.

Have been busy sorting out my folders from my external hard drive.  Most of the documents were all over the place and it is a challenge to find them when required.  So I had to get myself organised to have a better system to find things.  It's a very slow progress! Also I clean out my filing cabinet to have a better system going there too.

On 20th March I attend to the stitches and craft show in Brisbane.    I managed to spend around $120 on craft supplies. It was a bargain for most items!!  There were more needlework on display then paper crafting but we will have a bigger paper craft show in June.

I was lucky to run into two ladies I know from ex-CM workshops. Apparently they aren't really into scrap booking much these days since CM stopped.  Same as me for months but I did managed to get myself back into scrap booking this week by finding a new consultant for Close to my Heart.  I went to her casual sit and scrap on Wednesday for four hours.  I only completed three pages as I was too busy chatting and getting to know the new customers and consultant.  They are a friendly bunch!! This consultant hosts casual meets very fortnightly so I am hoping to go and be able to catch up in my projects in time.  Also this consultant hosts three all day meets on Saturdays per year and one camp. The next camp is scheduled to happen in June.

A friend came to Brisbane for an overnighter visit.  Her partner had to come to Brisbane for a medical appointment but sadly his cancer has came back. I am not sure what the latest will be but all I ask if everyone is to pray for a miracle to happen again.

What are your plans for Easter?  Rachel will be away in Hervey Bay with her father while I am hoping to go away to the Gold Coast with a friend for the long weekend as a friend of mine has her apartment on offer for friends to stay.

All the best for a safe and Happy Easter. If you have any travel commitments, I hope your destination will be a safe journey.

Monday 3 March 2014

February report

It's hard to believe its March already.  I had a busy February with sorting out my business affairs, job hunting and attending to interviews about employment.  On last Friday morning I had an interview with an employment agency.  After she viewed my resume, she recommend me to study because I already got the past experience from parenting and working. Just I need to get my qualifications so I would have a better chance of getting a job in children's services. So we were online looking at TAFE courses.  I just missed out on March intake of enrollments by one day but I should give them a phone call and ask if they can send an enrollment package so I can enroll for April intakes. The course I am looking into, takes 1 year and 3 months to complete. If I can get to start in April I want to aim to finish before June 2015.

Next week Rachel has a two day camp to attend with other junior secondary kids from her school. This will be her first camp to attend at high school.  She did go to one camp in primary school.  She would of been in year 5 or 6 at the time.

She settled in well at her new school and made a few new friends.  I attend to an open information night at her school and managed to meet a couple of her teachers, the guidance officer and the school's chaplain. Next week is the AGM for P and C which I think I might go so I can learn more about this school and get to meet other parents.

Better go as this internet kiosk is costing me money.  Hopefully I will get online at home very soon as I am missing using the internet at home.  I have got myself a refurnished laptop with windows 7 now. I have to buy one if I plan on studying and get internet back online.

Have a good month everyone!

January report

Can't believe the first month of 2014 has passed already.  It was a real busy month for me as it was time to move and change address.

Rachel and I have settled in well at my parent's address.  I am slowly unpacking as I have been busy with other priorities in my life. I had some business affairs to sort out and getting Rachel ready for school.  She seem to settled in well at her new school but not comfortable in wearing their formal uniform.  A tie must be worn the same way as a male wears his tie.  She practiced on the school holidays on how to correctly wear one. This school only wears their formal uniform twice a week.  The other three days of the week the students can wear their sports uniform which I am sure the majority of the school are happy with this set up.  This school is only a small enrollment population.

Now it's time to think about finding employment.  I started to look online and in papers but it is going to be a challenge because of my age and limited experience. I have applied for afew nanny positions and only one has replied to my interest. I am thinking of enrolling into a TAFE course to study my qualification/s from home.

Rachel stays at her father's place on the weekend.  Either he picks her up or I drop her off in Logan on Friday afternoons.  She returns home in the early evening on Sundays. As for Monique she seems to be more interested in seeing her boyfriend then spending time with her mother on the weekends.  I now just do my own thing while Rachel is away.

My bowling league resumed back earlier in the month.  I have a new team partner and have Rachel attending to watch us played each week. After bowling we go out for dinner at a local takeaway store with some friends.

Have a great February everyone!

New changes happening

Wow!  This time next week we all have moved to our new addresses. This week will be full on as the finalizing of packing and moving big stuff has got to be done.  A good thing about moving, I finally got myself organised and started to sort out alot of boxes with my belongings in them.  I meant to do them years ago but I didn't seem to get there until now. Now I have to go shopping to buy more big plastic containers as I have run out of them.

Since my last blog I have been to the shops a couple of times, watch tennis on TV and been out visiting. On Saturday night I was out to a birthday party which I shouldn't of really went as I wasn't really in a party mood. I have been invited to a party plan for a friend this Saturday.  It's a party plan for greeting cards I think.  I only go for a couple of hours as I have alot to do this weekend.

My 15 yo had a big bowling tournament over the weekend.  Actually she started to play on Friday!  I don't really know how she went because she never said much about her weekend.  Actually I haven't seen much of her for the past couple of weeks as she hasn't barely been home. She seems to be doing her own thing!  I am getting tired of getting the run around for her.  Oh well...its now her father's turn to deal with her teenage ways after I have been the full time parenting for the past 15 years.

My bowling league returned back last night. It was good to be back after a 6 week break.  I have a new team member with a new name.  Not sure how the first night went with the scores as we don't have a true average recorded until after the third week.  I have just look online and the first game results are not up yet.  Before bowling we had a brief meeting about the end of the year venue as there was some complaints about the catering last year.  It seems we are still going to the same venue but our regular entertainment might not be booked to perform. After what I witnessed last year I feel its a waste of money to hire entertainment if majority of the league isn't there to watch to all the way to the end.  I pretty much told the league how I felt about this situation. And it voted not to hire entertainment. I just save the league alot of money to have someone.  Now to give them ideas what to do with that extra cash at the end of the year.

This might be the last blog to post for a while because once I move I will end up to get a new email address and so on.  But first I need to get a new laptop as this one is getting too old.  Put it this way I am still using Windows XP and I have heard no more support for this program will continue now. I am not sure if I will go to windows 7 or 8 as I have been told mixed reports about both. I am thinking of going wi-fi for my internet as my parents don't want me to use their landline for my internet.  And I am not sure how well wi-fi will sucess as I have problems with using my mobile phone at their address. I think they live in a dark hole area for mobile use as my Dad complain about the same thing too!  I found out recently I can't use the phone in their house as the signal isn't strong enough.  I have to make my calls and texts outside in the street. And if I have to do the same with the internet I won't be happy.

December report

The last month of the year seem to travel on by so fast, didn't it?  It was a full on month for most families as Christmas preparations began with shopping, decorations up, card list writing and present wrapping. All that expense for just one festive season!!  Sometimes I wonder if it is really worth it.

How was your festive season?  What did you do over Christmas and New Year? Over the years I have been alive I never really had a big bang of celebrations with Christmas or New Year.  My family Christmas is basically very quiet and sharing a family meal at lunchtime but last year I was invited to attend to a different family meal at dinnertime with a different family.  I was pretty well fed by the end of the day! I had an enjoyable day and I think it's one of the best Christmases I had for a long time.

Did you see the welcoming of New Year?  I was with my best friend at the time on NYE.  We went on a mini picnic at a local park and watch the fireworks going off until midnight. Then went back to their place, drinking and talking until sunrise. Only had a couple of hours sleep but had a very lazy NYD.  Still feel exhausted and that event happened a week ago now. I used to be able to stay up like a nightowl when I was alot younger but I think those days are now long gone.

After Christmas the girls had a ten day holiday at Grandma's.  They live in Hervey Bay!  It's a beachy area that is four hour drive from Brisbane. Their grandparents have lived up there for 11 years now. It was the retirement choice to move there after they sold their home in Logan. We were the ones who brought the property with alot of regrets later! Never really like living here so I was glad when the house was sold last year. I am looking forward to a new start in life with my kids very soon.

While the girls were absent I had a mini vacation at my mate's house.  I just need a break and get away from this area. It was nice to hang around with some friends for afew days and we had alot of fun. We had a night of social bowling at their local bowling alley and a game of pool for 4 hours. I managed to win four games of pool.  And I am not even a professional player!!

December was also the month for the end of the school year for all schools in Australia. My 13 yo finished school 13 days before Christmas while her elder sister finished year 10 two weeks before her. Both of them done well in their school report.  Both received an A and the rest of the report card had Bs and Cs for their subjects. I can't believe my 13yo had survived her first year of high school.  This year she will be changing schools as we are moving to a different city very soon.

The kids are now on summer holidays until late January.  This month (JANUARY) will be busy with packing and moving as the house was sold last month. The settlement day is just days before school resumes. I had alot of stuff packed last year but the sale of the house fell through twice.  Now we only got last minute items to pack.  Alot of my belongings are already at my parent's house.  I have spend afew days already sorting out the boxes and hoping to be back there this week to finish most of the boxes.  The only thing I can't find is my resume folder because I need that to find employment.

Inspite the big move back to the inner city, I have the school preparations to do of buying school supplies and new uniforms for my 13yo.  My car is due to have its 20 000 km service, rego and insurance to be paid and other business affairs to deal with in one week. I already started to job hunt as I joined two job agencies online.  So far I have applied for two jobs yesterday.  Also I hope to be studying this year as well.

Whatever New Year resolutions you might have, I hope your dreams and goals will come true in 2014.  All the best for a great and healthy year!

Start of 2014

Goodbye 2013!  I am now glad that year is over.  Consider what I went thru last year I am hoping 2014 will be alot better year for everyone. I have a couple of New Resolutions ideas but I don't wish to share, just incase my plans do not work out.

It's now the sixth day into 2014 and I only been home for two days.  You see I was absent from home for ten days.  I left on Boxing Day and returned back on Sunday at lunchtime.  I spent my holidaying at a mate's house while my girls were holidaying at their Grandma's in Hervey Bay.  It was a fun time at my mate's house: cooking meals, social bowling, shopping, watching tennis and playing pool. On NYE we stayed up all night talking and drinking rum and coke.  Didn't we payed for it on NYD!! Even six days later I still feel exhausted but I have alot to do for the next two weeks.

Since on return, I had over 300 emails to read and dealt with only a couple of replies in groups and individual messaging.  Today I decided to make a start on job hunting.  I joined two job agencies in hoping to find Nanny/Housekeeping jobs as I had experience in this field for about seven years before I had children of my own.  Since my martial status will be changing I will have to find a job as I won't be able to have much financial assistance from the government for much longer. Also I am hoping to study my qualifications this year too. But right now I have to finalized all the packing and move out before settlement day (21st January).

All the best for 2014!  I hope your year will be a good year worth remembering for a long time.
