2016

Consider I haven't blog much is the past couple of months I just logged on and discovered the changes. What happened to all the other bloggers I followed??

What is happening to 2016???  Its almost out the door and what a year it has been for some people.  Too many celebrities lives are gone. Unless you are classed as a superstition person, most people (as sighted on Facebook) are blaming the year is being so unlucky.  In realistic how can you blame some numbers?  Blame the big boss from above!  He is the one who makes the final decision of who's stays and who's been called back to home in his terms. Sadly it is part of our lifespan! I'm sure most of us want to live forever but its impossible for our bodies to handle real old age. We are put on Earth for some reason and then its time to depart at some point in life. Just unfortunate some people are taken way too soon.

I had some ups and downs of my own, dealing with my parent's health issues and my children leaving home for good.  My eldest lives her partner and their baby (who is now 5 months old).  A lot of new milestones are introduced. My other daughter moved out and lives her father now.

I am enrolled to study my course but I had dramas in that department too.  I am still a job seeker!!  Its coming to the point its become an occupation in itself.  I am sure I am doing the right thing:  apply for more jobs then required and attend to interviews.  My past employment agent called me an interview queen as I seem to be the one successful of getting interviews but that seems where that ends.  I am not a size 8-12 attractive model but I feel its discriminate on against of my figure.  I don't bother wasting my time asking why I don't get the job because most of them don't even bother replying if I was the successful applicant or not. All I do now is like most people....keep busy applying! It's just another day's job for me!!  Shame our younger generation don't do the same thing.  I heard the government plans on targeting the under 25 on the dole to be more active in the job seeking front.  Most young ones are too lazy to look for work.  They waste their allowance on things they should have or do then they complain they don't have any money left to survive on for two weeks.

Guess that's all my rant for one day!  Now for good news! I became a Nanna since July.  I have a grand daughter who belongs to my eldest girl. Bowl well in my new league! And continue to do my craft work by attending to regular workshop meets and create for swaps.  I'm sure 2017 will be the same!  Just hope to get a job very soon as I had enough of been on welfare. Maybe I should consider starting my own business with very little budget to begin with.

Happy New Year to everyone!  I hope 2017 will be a lot better year for all.

Melbourne Cup Day

Its now the second day of November. The highlight of this week was Melbourne Cup Day yesterday. It involves horse racing in Melbourne.  Its a public holiday for them but most cities host big luncheons at hotels or restaurants for a high cost. But I attend to one venue for half the cost for a basic roast meat buffet at a common hotel.  Most guests had hats on but I decided to go out totally different.  I was dressed up as a jockey!  And wasn't I noticed by hotel staff and guests!!

I didn't placed any TAB bets but I did get involved in the sweepstakes.  The horse I was chosen did not win any placing!  The group had multi-draw raffles going which I managed to come home with two prizes.  Two small bottles of alcohol and a painting.

Have you seen any horse racing?  I seen more on TV but I would like to watch a live event one day.  Melbourne Cup was held at Eagle Farm Racecourse in Brisbane but apparently the media started they lost power for over two hours.  Most people aren't happy because they didn't see the main race happened!

My Springy Report

Spring will come to an end next month but I think summer has already hit in SE QLD.  We had a couple of summer days of warm temps and storms started.  Most times these storms intend to go around us.  Today I woke up to a sunny and windy day but now its overcast and the wind has died down. Forecast to have light patchy rain overnight.  But looking at the sky earlier the clouds were quite dark out west like a storm was coming.  Will it rain or not?  Never know what mother nature has got up her sleeve!!

September has been and gone. Nothing special happened that month!  Just normal commitments happened.  It's almost past half way into October and new things happened by introducing to new craft groups.

I just started going back to Stamping Up classes again after a short break this year. But this time I found a new consultant who lives near the bowling alley I bowl at. I attended to her first class yesterday to make a dozen Christmas cards  The small group are a friendly brunch!  I plan on attending to my second card class next Tuesday.  Normally my Tuesdays are busy in either in  Ipswich or in Brisbane but my craft friend is away at present time.

Also I thought of finding a new consultant for other craft group as I heard a rumour my current consultant might be retiring from the company. This new consultant I found has regular casual meets at her home address on Wednesday nights.  She lives very close to my daughter's address. It would be nice if I could attend to her regularly as I am so behind in scrapbooking.  At present time I am working on my daughter's school albums. I am about three quarters into completing them. I am hoping to have them finished by this Christmas.

Until next report, enjoy your month of November.

Welcome Spring!!

OMG!  Where did the last two months go?  Its now time to say goodbye to winter and welcome Spring!  For some people they might dislike this time of the year as they suffer allergies from flowers in bloom but I love it!  Not because the flowers are in bloom but new wildlife is born and some animals might be out of hibernation.

Speaking of births I've become a Nanna for the first time. Monique's first baby, Krystal entered the world on 17th July. Eight days early!! Weighed in at 9lb 3oz (4.1 kgs).  She is now six weeks old and weighs 5.44 kgs,  She is growing up well and new milestones are starting to be introduced.  I tried to spend much time with I can with both of them.  This week I had two days of long visits as Monique needed me as a taxi for her appointments and errands to do with the bub.

First week of July Rachel had her week at her Dad's in Logan. Last month she moved out to live with her father in Hervey Bay.  I don't even know where they live as I haven't heard from her since she moved.

On 9th July the group who organised the Big Morning Tea for Cancer decided to make it their last Fund Raise event after doing this for so long.  At their last event they mentioned to raise over $2500 from everyone who contributed on the day.

Monique turned 18 on 23 August.  We had a pizza night out with her partner's family in Logan.  The pizzas aren't the same they used to make them.  I think homemade pizzas are better because I like more fillings on them.

Other days I had normal commitments and involvement with craft workshops and penpal swaps which I signed up to join in recently.

Better go and get ready for bed.  I had too many late nights and tomorrow will be a busy day with spending time with Monique and attend to another craft class in the evening.  Have a good month!

June report

Half the year is now over!!  Winter is definitely here this year!  Normally we have dry winters but this year it seems to be more rain about. We had two sessions of wild weather with storms (at coastal areas) with heavy rain and gusty winds to hit the south east coast of Australia.  Even had snow or sleet fall in the western areas of the state border (known as Stanthorpe). During the second case of a Sunday rainy day, I copped mild floodwaters (height around my ankles) at the roundabout at Toowong Cemetery. The water was coming down the hill from the Cemetery. I was in Ipswich all day and return home that night.

My normal lifestyle continues to be busy with normal routine of home life, study, job hunting, craft, bowling and spending time with my bf every weekend. Now its school holidays and plan to stay there next week while Rachel stays at her father's.

Rachel and I went to the club once to see a free movie "Daddy's Home".  The movie is about a Step Dad meeting the real Dad of the kids he got involved with.  How many relationships do you know involving step parent meeting the real parent of the child/ren?

Last month I had a two week training course to do through Tursa Employment Agency. This course was more detail about the workforce today. Most of it was common sense and have heard it all before.

Monique has moved out of her father's house in Logan and moved in to a new 5 bedroom house at Springfield Lakes with her partner and his family.  Rachel and I visited her at her new address last week!  Very nice house in a quiet area!! Compared to Logan, Springfield Lakes is more expensive to live.  I had to do some grocery shopping with Monique as they had barely no food. Who remembers to shop when you moved address?

The school holidays have started since last weekend. The first week is just about over! The first three days we were over at my bf's house to spent family time with him and his 1 yo cat (the former owner was his son who no longer wants the cat). The cat is very sociable for a moggy!! Loves to get cuddles and attention which Rachel done most of it during our time there.  Even the cat slept on her bed in the spare room. On Wednesday we went to the cinema to see Ice Age and had family dinner at the local RSL club.

To all the USA followers, enjoy your long weekend as I heard you have a public holiday on Monday. Happy Independence Day to you all!

Is winter coming?

Goodbye Autumn!  Hello winter!  It suppose to be the start of our winter season but I think today been the wettest day of all since sliced bread would be the coldest start of winter so far.  We had steady rainfall since 2am and just seen on the news that some areas of SE QLD have been inundated with floods waters.  I am currently at my bf's house and I don't even know if I can go home or bowling tomorrow night if this rainfall continues overnight as some roads I drive on are low flooded areas.  It rained and wind here until 1pm.  But since 3pm we had occasional showers of rain.

During the month of May was no better then late April.  Mother's Day didn't go to plan as my mum was in hospital.  She was diagnosed with cellulitis. Because she was fluid retention in both ankles the medical team thinks she may have a mild heart condition too.  She's supposedly go back to the hospital as an outpatient to have an echo cardiogram done.

My 16yo is being a typical rebellious teenager decided to skip school for a couple of weeks. Because she hasn't been barely at school the principal was thinking of closing her enrolment but somehow the head of SEU managed to sweet talk (so to speak) to keep her enrolled. Otherwise I will lose my family allowance but if Liberals win the upcoming elections I think they are going to remove all family allowances. On Monday we had a family interview at the school with the SEU person and the teacher aide who mainly works with Rachel.  We all agree to keep Rachel at school by attending to school three days a week.  The other days we plan on getting Rachel some tutoring done or do volunteer work. Rachel's main problem is getting her out of bed in the mornings. She's a strictly nightowl!!

Only this month I am starting to get back to normal with my lifestyle routine.  I found three new penfriends who I regularly email and at bowling I am going well in most games. We were given new shirts to wear recently.  Mostly we wear them if we enter tournaments and during league on Sunday nights.

This week was the first week of State of Origin 1 played in Sydney.  Of course QLD won 6 - 4.

Better go and get ready to go out for dinner.  Most Saturday nights we go to a local sports club for dinner and watch some local entertainment. Some weeks we have good singers and other weeks...well you get the picture.  Last month we spoke to one of the entertainers as we know through mutual friends from bowling.

What a term!

OMG! Where did the last two months go?  In three days it will be Mother's Day in Australia.  A happy mother's to all mums and grandmas this Sunday. I hope your children and grandchildren will spoil you!!  I plan to spend time with Monique to chat and have lunch at home.  Can't really afford to spend a lot these days as I only have a basic allowance from the government.

I am still enrolled in my course but I haven't barely studied or done my work experience hours for the past two months as I had a sick father to deal with.  He was diagnosed with Vertigo which means he isn't able to drive a vehicle while having dizziness. So I was a taxi for them to do shopping and other errands for my parents.

To top it all off, Rachel is going through a school refusal stage. She's in year 11 but she feels its time to leave school.  I had the flu and now its doing its cycle around this household.

Sadly on Anzac Day weekend I had to take Rachel's cat to the vet to be put down as she was diagnosed with advanced renal failure.  Up until her last week of life, she was fine!! So it was a huge shocked to see her go downhill so fast!  We do miss her greatly as she played a big part of our lives. For Rachel it was more the first time to lose her pet.  After I goggle search more on renal failure I think she may had some of the symptoms for a while but we just thought it was something not to be too concern.  If you have a dog or cat with incontinence problem, might be best to take your pet to the vet, just incase its more then it meets the eye.

I don't know if I have made this announcement on my blog or not. I am going to become a Grandma in July as Monique is pregnant with her first child. Not like this pregnancy was planned or anything but I try my best to be there for her at her appointments and baby shopping. She had her baby shower last weekend! It was full on and fun!! She had about a dozen guests attending and we all gave her a lot of baby gifts which I am sure she will use at some point.  The stroller and cot has been purchased.  Just need to buy a baby bath and a car seat/capsule. Monique has given a lot of clothes already.

Last weekend I played putt putt for the first time at the Gold Coast with my bowling mates and bf.  W had a lot of fun playing 3 courses.  I managed to get a couple of hole in ones. The league is talking of having this social meet again in October.

Better go as I have dinner to reheat and served before Home and Away starts.  Apparently two lives are lost after a caravan exposure. Hopefully my next report will be a lot better with happier news.

February report

Wow!  Where did the month of February go? Normally today would be the last day of the month but this year is a leap year which means we have an extra day of the month every four years.  Not like an extra day would be any different for me as my lifestyle intends to be full on with study and craft commitments and bowling on Sunday nights.  My new bowling report is listed in a different blog (my sporting report)

Summer Holidays sure come and go fast within six weeks (Rachel was eight weeks).  The students went back to school after Australia Day (26 January). Its now about half way into term 1.  This term will be only nine weeks as Easter this year will be here in late March. What plans do you have for Easter?

Rachel's school had their annual swimming carnival earlier this month.  Rachel didn't get involved as she isn't really a sports person. I went along to watch and it was good to see other students show their true sportsmanship.

My stamp club had resumed its meet this month.  Once I joined an art journal swap I have been busy working on creating some pages. I may have introduced a new member to our group as I recently met her via a friend of mine who I caught up with last week. Which reminds me I will have to contact the club committee about the new potential member joining the club too.

Better go as I have afew things to do today.  Have a good month of March!!

My Summer Report

Wow! It's now into the 22nd day of 2016 and only 9 days to go to farewell January. And haven't I had a busy summer month by barely not staying at home for three weeks as it's school holidays still until 26 January. Either it was family time with my bf or Monique, swim at the public pool once, seen two movies (The Snoopy Movie and Goosebumps) and dined out a lot at clubs or taverns.

Since Christmas I was mostly staying at my bf's house as Rachel was absent too.  She stayed at Grandma's for two weeks.  She returned home last weekend which I had some time with her since but last week we had three nights at my bf's house.  This week was busy dealing with back to school supplies as she will be returning back to school next Wednesday.

This month we visited the Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast. We had a two day pass to attend the zoo twice.  At the second visit we seen the Irwin Family (consists of Terri, Bindi and Robert) doing their duty of work.  If you heard of the late Steve Irwin he was the owner of the zoo. He had a passion for crocodiles by rescuing them and relocate if needed.  The zoo originally started by his father (BOB IRWIN) as a reptile park only which Steve grew up in this environment.  I think it become a zoo by the time he married Terri. Bindi is now 17 and has been a busy child with helping her mum operate the zoo, having her own TV show (on Pay TV I think) and has a range of clothing/other stuff at the zoo. Last year she was a winner in the US version "Dancing of the Stars".

My new bowling league at the new centre resumed on 17th January.  This league will be my challenge to win points for scratch games. There are afew top bowlers with high averages. I was told most of my points will be based on HCP totals.  I was lucky in the first week to win one scratch point.  The player I bowled against has an average around 150-160. Just her third game was her let down of bowling under average. My bf re-joined the same league I was in which started on the 10th. He told he has bowled well for the past two Sundays.  I know in the first week his team won all the points as I looked online for their standing sheet.  Also I noted the league has new teams welcomed.

My craft days resumed back this month too.  I had two meets in Ipswich.  At the first meet I worked on some scrapbook pages and at the second meet I created a stationery box to add cards or letter paper into.  Also it has an area for a pen and stamps to add into pockets.  I haven't posted any photos on Facebook as the kit isn't quite finished.  It was an 8 hour project to try to complete!!

Time is moving on and I will have to prepare what to take to my bf's to do this weekend.  I was hoping to get started on my studies again as school resumes next week.  It will be hard to get the study mojo back as I haven't studied since summer holidays started six weeks ago. Up until Christmas I had afew prac work hours at the centre. I haven't return in January as I need to have some family time. Have a good weekend!

Friday 1 January 2016

Welcome 2016!

Happy New Year everyone!  Only an hour to go and the first day of 2016 will be almost over.

What did you do on NYE!  I was home for part of the day then went to my bf's to stay for 4 nights, possibly longer as I don't want to return in a hurry.

When I return home on Wednesday afternoon I had discovered one of my birds had died and a family friend in hospital. I was pretty emotional on NYE as it was the last things I wanted on my mind.

It was around 3pm when I got back to my bf's house.  His daughter is currently in town for a month so they spent sometime together at the shops.  I didn't mind their absence as I wanted to be some me time for a couple of hours.  We had dinner at his place and just hanged about until 10pm. We went to Newstead House/Park to watch the local fireworks near the Gateway Bridge at midnight. By this stage I had three Malibu and cokes.

Returned back to his house.  They went to bed and I stayed up another two hours or so drinking half a bottle of Tia Maria straight while watching TV by myself. Yes...I did get drunk!  It's been a very long time since I got drunk but I felt I needed it after the kind of year I had.

I was pretty tired today after I got up at lunchtime. But I kept myself busy by helping my bf with some household chores and went out for dinner at the club.  I didn't drink this time as I think I already had enough during the festive season. My bf never seen me drunk on NYE and I don't think he will never will at this stage. Not very often I drink so much!  Generally 2 or 3 glasses of alcohol is often my limit.  I can go by for months without any alcohol!  Just this time of the year wasn't really in a peachy season mood for me!!

Now its the start of 2016 and my resolution is to complete my course. What's your New Year Resolution??
