Disappointed Moments

A new month had already began seven days ago! Not sure what kind of month it will become but I already had my dose of bad news. I have two acquiescences lost their relatives and a big international company has gone bankrupt.

My weekend was fairly quiet in general as Rachel and her father had an overnighter in Hervey Bay. I thought about going to see a local Rock 'n' Roll musical with Monique but all the tickets were sold out for both Saturday's matinee and evening sessions.

Instead Monique and I went to the shops, video store and cinema on Saturday afternoon/evening to watch Identify Thief.  I didn't think the movie was that good as the previews showed.

In the evening we watched 2/3 of our hired DVDs.  I watched Magic Mike (which I didn't think it was as good as THE FULL MONTY from years before) while Monique watched Werewolf.  I still have got "Sapphires" Movie to watch before it's due to be returned on this Saturday.

Monday was a nice day to be out with my best friend.  We went to the movies to see OBLIVION. It was an okay movie with Tom Cruise!! He sure has aged alot since TOP GUN days. We suspect Tom Cruise might like motorbikes because we seen him ride one in a couple of movies (like TOP GUN, etc).

Today I was meant to be attending to a scrap workshop but that event has been cancelled. Over the weekend I discovered my scrap workshops with CM might become a thing of the past as the company has gone into receivership.  For further details you need to read my latest entry from MY CRAFT DIARY blog. Guess now until further notice I will only be attending to casual meets of scrapbooking at the craft store on Tuesdays, like I did yesterday. Out of our little group I was the only one there.  One lady is away on holidays all this month but I don't know what the reason was for the rest of the group to not attend. Oh well, at least I managed to be quite productive and get afew pages created.  At present time I am working on getting all the school albums up to date.

Not sure what the rest of this week will bring but I do know I have some house chores to catch up on and get completed before the weekend comes around again.  Today it's not the right day for washing to be done. I am glad I done two loads yesterday as today is mostly overcast with the odd sunshine showing at times.  Supposely forecast some rain but it hasn't happen here as yet. But it's bound to happen sooner or later as my ankles are giving the indication of a weather change in the system.

To all the mums and grandmas out there, have a wonderful Mother's Day with your family on Sunday.

April report

Wow!  Where did April go?  I can't believe it's the first day of May already.

In Australia we are now half way into our autumn season.  I have noticed our daylight hours are growing shorter and our evening temperatures are beginning to feel like a wild winter is coming  Good hugging weather!! Even in the early mornings you need to wear warm clothing but once morning tea starts you need to change clothes as the temperature gauges rises alittle faster then you think.

How was your month of April?  As usual I was busy with normal commitments involving my kids, bowling and scrapbooking. I joined an online craft group which I started to work on ATCs again after such a long break for a year or two.

April was a busy month with school holidays for the first two weeks of the month.  The first week was busy catching afew new release movies at the cinema with either my best friend or my kids.  The second week was spend more at home and catching up with afew family members.

Rachel's birthday happened during the school holidays.  Now it's official........she's a young teenager!!  If anyone says terrible twos were bad, I don't think so!! Dealing with a 15 yo (who thinks she's 25) is bad enough. I just hope Rachel doesn't do the same mistakes her darling sister done last year. There are times I wish my kids are still in the early childhood years!!

On 15th April most schools resumed for term two. In the first week back I had my parent teacher interviews with Monique's teachers.  I was given good reports from all of her teachers. Also I had seen written results on paper as her mid term report card arrived in the post at the beginning of the school holidays.

In term one, Monique had apply to do a school based traineeship to complete a certificate in sports and recreation.  She had her interview at QEII during the school holidays and signing paperwork happened last week at the school when a couple of members from QSA came in. Just got to wait for approval from the Education Department then her course will commence.  She will be off to her field placement once a week at a primary school.  It isn't any of the primary schools she was enrolled at but it will be about a 15 minute drive for me to drop her off.

Not surprise really she is keen on choosing a sport related career as she was very good during her primary school life in PE and shown an interest in bowling since she was 3 years old. Guess it doesn't help when I am a keen bowler since I was in primary school. But I didn't join any leagues or tournaments until I left school.

Speaking of bowling Monique entered three tournaments in April. All played in Brisbane and Logan. She came 5th in one and 3rd in another.

The best highlight of my month was attending to the weekend camp of scrapbooking last weekend. I worked on school theme pages of Rachel's primary years and finishing off a couple of gift albums at long last.

Time to head off and get some things done before settling down to sleep.  Have a good month of May!  To all the mums and grandmas I hope you will have a good Mother's Day with your family next weekend.

Early bird risen

Good morning everyone!  It's just past 5:30am here in SE QLD which is very unusual for me to be up this early.  I did have my alarm set to go off at 5:30am but I was woken up by a sound of a cat fight in the back neighbourhood almost an hour ago..

I set the alarm early as I need to get things done before I leave for camp this afternoon.  I had a busy week on getting my camp prep finalized and ready to go in less then 12 hours time. Now it is just last minute things to do before I leave.

Four months ago the sunrise would of been already up but not now as the season is changing into winter. Meaning our daylight hours are geting shorter. I am expecting the camp venue might be a little cooler then home so I have packed more warm clothing to wear, espeicially at nightime.

This time in twelve hours time I should be at the venue unpacking. Hope everyone will have an enjoyable weekend

A mixed week

Hi everyone!  How's your week been going?  Isn't it amazing on how the weeks travel by so fast?  In eleven days time we will be farewelling another month.

Except for yesterday, I had a busy week with normal commitments, went to the movies and attending to one scrap workshop. Supposely be attending to the second workshop tonight but I still feel offbeat from the past day. I had a migraine virus which you suffer a massive headache, feel nausea and fatigue. There isn't much can be done except alot of rest/sleep to get rid of the headache.

On Tuesday afternoon I had my second parent teacher interviews with Monique's teachers.  After 90 minutes I met all her teachers and had good reports about her. In term one, Monique applied to do a traineeship in sports and recreation. She had an interview during the school holidays and supposely be signing more paperwork next week. I am guessing she was a successful applicant but we don't know the starting day of this course as yet. On the holidays she handed in two resumes at two bowling centres hoping to get a part time job as well.

What's on your agenda for this weekend?  Not planning to do much here but I do have to finalized my camp preparations as the scrap camp is only next weekend away.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Back to School

Goodbye school holidays!  Today was the first day back at school for kids to learn their subjects program for term two.  Getting back to normal routine was abit of a challenge this morning but the kids managed to get to school on time easy.

Alot of vehicles driving on the road this morning and we had a couple of impatient Mums driving. I had a close call with one female driver this morning near my home address.  She was entering into her driveway as I was coming down the street.

There was a good accident on the hill of Queen's Road last night.  By the looks of things, someone was impatient of coming out of their driveway or coming out the side street on the opposite side.  There were three tow trucks at the scene of this accident.

Where did the last two weeks go?  It was a reasonable good holiday break for my kids.  Over Easter they spent their time at Grandma's, the first week was basically going to the cinemas to catch afew new release movies and last week was spend at home and family.

During the holidays it was Rachel's birthday.  It's now official...she's a teen!!  On her birthday I taken her to the cinema to see a movie and had lunch at Pancake Manor.

Yesterday was the day I lived at the bowling alley.  Well...actually I went to two centres. The first one was the under 21 tournament at AMF Capalaba and last night it was my league play as normal.

The lucky streak must of continued in the family because I won $10 from the raffles last night.  Rachel won $15 on Friday at the league's club.

Gotta go as I have afew things to do this afternoon. Have a good week!

School Holidays 2

Wow! The school holidays are sure closing fast.  The second week will close up in two days time. The first week was busy but this week was abit more on the quieter side. We had alot of sleep ins and late nights these holidays so Sunday night will be the challenge on getting the brats off to bed early and up early on Monday morning.

Except for today, this week was more stay at home week with the kids.  More one child really as my 14yo had plans of her own.
Today we went to the league's club with my parents.  After watching the light entertainment performer (who I don't even know his name but he mainly sang reggae kind of songs), we had the raffle draws and lunch.  Rachel was the only lucky winner at our table.  She won $15 cash!

For lunch I had a steak sandwich with chips and the girls had a ham and cheese toastie and they shared a bowl of chips.  About an hour later they had an ice cream each.

What's on your agenda for this weekend?  I plan to see a movie with my eldest girl and friend tomorrow while on Sunday most of the day will be spent at the bowling alley.  My girl has a bowling tournament on in Brisbane. Then that night I will be back to bowling to play in my league.

Have a good weekend everyone!

School Holidays 1

How's your week been going so far?  This time last week it was only the beginning of the Easter weekend.   I can't believe it's Friday again already. Where did this week go?

This week marks the first week of school holidays for kids.  Since Tuesday, we were busy driving to the same shopping complex to either shop, sort out a business matter, had lunch or went to the cinema to see two family movies.  We had seen Adventures of Zambezia and The Croods.

What are your plans for this weekend?  Tomorrow Rachel celebrates her 13th birthday.  I plan to take her to the cinema to see Return of Nim's Island.  Bindi Irwin stars in this family movie!

Two Sundays in a row Monique has two bowling tournaments. This Sunday will be played in Northern NSW. It's a three hour drive from Brisbane. And in the following week she plays in Brisbane. Wish her luck!

Whatever plans you have for this weekend, have a good one!
