Normal week

Good  morning followers!  How was your week?  For me it was just another normal week to do things from home, drive daily to schools for drop offs and pick ups, attend to my favourite sport and one craft meet. 

What's on your agenda for this weekend? Tonight Rachel has a disco to attend to at her school. It will only go for two hours.  The rest of this weekend will be round 2 of bowling in two leagues and one tournament again to be played in Brisbane.  I will post the results in my sporting blog after the weekend. 

Brisbane Ekka had its doors opened for the public yesterday to attend on any day/s for the next ten days. I feel one day is enough as it is quite an expensive day for the family.  By the time you pay for your transport, your family admission, showbags and something to eat, half your weekly wage would be gone out of your account. At this stage if the weather is fine I am planning on taking the girls to go on Monday as Logan city has their public holiday.  The best thing I like about the EKKA is all the exhibits of food, craft and animals, side show ring and showbags!!  This time I will really take note of all the paintings on display as one of my bowling mates has her artwork at the EKKA this year.  I don't know if she has won a prize or not.

Hi followers! How was your week?  I had quite a busy week with normal commitments as well as two days of spring cleaning during school hours.  I am slowly making some progress with the boxes downstairs.  One cupboard is full of things that belongs to my spouse and a drawer is half full of my belongings.  Next thing I need to do is go through alot of boxes with my craft supplies in them. Believe me that will take some time now! It will be interesting to see what I forgot I had purchased sometime ago.

Been a good sporting week for most of us which I will write up a report on my sporting blog after this weekend.  We will be busy living at the bowling alley this time as there is three leagues and one tournament to play over the weekend.

Had two craft meets this week which is already reported in my craft diary blog.  Enjoy reading!!

July highlights

Hi everyone!  How was your month? When you think of it, where did the month of July go?  It seems to went out the door so fast.  In over four months time Christmas will be here. 

We are now half way into winter season and I will be glad when it finally ends for the year as I am tired of cold nights and having colds/flus going around in circles in this household.

When the new month began, we still had another week of school holidays left which the girls and I managed to catch three movies at the cinema.  We went and saw Cars 2, Mr Popper’s Penguins and Kung Fu Panda 2 at the Logan Hyperdome.  On Friday we went to Arana Hills League to spend time with my parents for 2.5 hours to see some light entertainment, raffle draws where I won $15 cash and we all had lunch from the club’s cafe. 

After two weeks of school holidays, semester two has started since 11^th July. Back to school means back to normal commitments again involving school, sport and craft. Tuesdays would have been my favourite day of the week because I visited the craft store weekly to casually scrap with other ladies or by myself.  I started to work on Rachel’s album so I can try to get her years up to date.

In the first couple of weeks back to school, I viewed Monqiue’s report card that arrived in the mail box and her school had their parent teacher interviews again on 26^th July which this time I met all her teachers in 90 minutes. 

Also her school had their sports day for two days which Monique managed to come home with four ribbons for both field and track events.  She came 3^rd for Triple Jump (4.70m), 2^nd in long jump (3.26m) and 400m run and 1^st in 200m final.

On 24^th July Monique played in her fifth TQI tournament which was played at Capalaba Lanes again.  It was our lucky day because I won $30 from the lotto number card and Monique came home with two medals.  Her team came 2^nd and her second medal was for high game scratch (196).

Guess that's all to report this time.  I hope you will have a good month throughout August.  There is two members in this household who will celebrate their birthdays this month. You will need to guess who they are?

Spring cleaning

Hi followers!  How was your week?  I had a busy week with afew things on.  Besides normal commitments, I had two scrap meets and one sports day to watch.  Both of these have been mentioned in separate blogs.

I finally got myself motivated and started on spring cleaning downstairs on Monday and I am just about to head down again shortly to do some more, sorting out more boxes. Consider I don't do this daily, I think it will be quite a long time before I go through everything.  It's amazing on how much we have collected over the years since we got married and had children.  Some things might be donated to charity or to the spring school fair to sell if I can complete my sorting out on time.

Bowling weekend

Hi there!  How was your weekend?  Like I said in my sporting report blog I was practically living at the bowling alley as Monique had her tournament to be played today.  For further details you will have to simply read that blog.

Besides bowling I did call into Spotlight on Saturday afternoon to purchase some sewing essentials as I have two school items that needs mending which I should do tomorrow.  I can't believe one of Moni's skirts is already ripped after six months.  I think it might of been a poor quality zip at right at the beginning.  Instead of buying a new skirt, it's cheaper to just buy a new zipper.  Thank goodness I know how to sew as I had learnt it in high school when I studied Home Economics.

On Saturday morning Frank had an appointment to see his tax accountant to get his income tax return completed and education tax refund done.  I am alittle cheezed off to find out uniforms are included in next year's refund.  Why couldn't they done it for this year because I spent enough on Moni's uniforms?  To other Aussie parents who needs to get their education refund sent, don't expect alot in return. You might only receive half of what you spent in one year.  You will be surprise on what you can claim on but just be careful on what you can claim on and don't overdo it on more popular uses of products.  If you are not sure, it might be best to see a tax accountant or contact your local tax office.

Wrist injury

Hi there!  How was your week?  For me, it was more a quieter week because I suffered a mild wrist injury on Monday morning, just before we headed out the door to send the girls to school.  I am not really 100% sure what happened.  Last thing I can remember I was too busy thinking on what I was planning on doing that day and the next I was on the bedroom floor with some pain from my hand.  I taken I either tripped over a floor mat or the bed covering.  One thing I learnt our laminated floors and floor mats (without any grip on the bottom) aren't the right ingredients.  Guess it is time to do some shopping for the right floor mats then as I nearly did the same thing twice in one week.

Good news!  Monique received her report card in the mail this week.  I was so over the moon after I viewed it.  She's seems to be going great so far in high school as her acheivements showed it.  Science, Art and Literacy Support were the best subjects with Triple As for achievement, effort and behaviour. 

At the back of her report card it lists some graphs of each subject in her year level. They call this the Distribution of Acheivement Codes. It provides information to show where students stand in their achievements.  Out of 130 students in year 8, there wasn't too many students acheived an "A" acheivement (under ten in most subjects) so I was over the moon after I viewed the graph to see Monique was the top student for three subjects.  Only eight students (and Monique was one of them) were the successful applicants to get to the top.  Out of 40 students who studied Art, there were only two students who received an "A".  Out of 27 students who require Literacy Support there were only Monique and other student who achieved an "A".

The primary school can offer the same graph, just most parents don't request them.  But I am going into the school this afternoon to see the school's HOC person to view the graph.  I am just a curious person to see the comparison with Rachel and other students in her year level.

Interesting weekend

How was your weekend?  I hope you had a good one. For us parts of it were busy and it was nice to have a quiet time too.

On Saturday it was a busy one for us.  The girls had a busy morning at bowling.  After they played league they had their prize presentation from season one.  A full report has bee posted under the sporting report blog.

In the afternoon I had my scrapbooking workshop at my consultant's home.  It was a four hour workshop to do a couple of love theme pages.  Love must is be the air because yesterday it was a love theme songs for a particular group on facebook.  I joined this group on the school holidays.

Also my MIL's niece found us on facebook.  She's the only one I know of can speak and write English as the others only speak German still.  She and I had a nice chat on Friday night.  She would be around mid 20s (her age that is) and works as a nurse but right now she's on a working visa elsewhere.  She's hoping to come down to Australia next year for abit of a holiday to meet us (Frank came to Australia long before she was born) and spend some time with her auntie and uncle in Hervey Bay.

It was nice to have abit of a relax time on Sunday before Monique and I went to bowling last night.  After a nice sleep in until almost 10am on Sunday morning, I spent about three to four hours straight on facebook.  I was busy seeking some love songs for the song group that I mentioned about in paragraph three.
